This tender Carne Asada recipe is flavorful and proof that sometimes all you need is a few simple ingredients to make a delicious meal!

Authentic Carne Asada Recipe

Orange juice (no pulp)

Olive oil

Fresh chopped cilantro

limes

lemon

Tablespoons White wine vinegar

Teaspoon Cumin

Teaspoon Salt

Teaspoon Fresh ground black pepper

Jalapeno pepper, (seeded and diced)

garlic, (minced)

Flank steak

In a large mixing bowl combine orange juice, olive oil, cilantro, lime juice, lemon juice, white wine vinegar, cumin, salt and pepper, jalapeno, and garlic; whisk until well combined.

Reserve ⅓ cup of the marinade; cover the rest and refrigerate.

Combine remaining marinade and steak in a large resealable freezer bag; seal and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.

Preheat grill to HIGH heat.

Remove steak from marinade and lightly pat dry with paper towels.

Add steak to the preheated grill and cook for another 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. Note that flank steak tastes best when cooked to rare or medium rare because it&#039;s a lean cut of steak.

Remove from heat and let rest for 10 minutes. Thinly slice steak against the grain, garnish with reserved cilantro mixture, and serve.

Heat a large cast iron skillet (preferably cast iron grill pan) over high heat until hot.  Add steak to the skillet and cook for  6 to 7 minutes per side, or until desired level of doneness.

Stovetop Method

125°F to 130°F internal temperature for RARE

135°F to 140°F internal temperature for MEDIUM RARE

145°F to 150°F internal temperature for MEDIUM to MEDIUM WELL

150°F internal temperature for WELL DONE

The FDA recommends that steak be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F.

From time to time I receive e-mails asking some common questions for an&nbsp;Authentic Carne Asada recipe, the first one being how to marinate the meat. I always give out the same answer: every cook or grill master has their own unique way of seasoning their meat. I hope you enjoy this delicious recipe.

CARNE ASADA RECIPE

Place the flank steak in a large baking dish and, if using the sliced onion, spread the slices over the meat.

In a medium-sized bowl mix together the orange juice, lime juice, light beer, Kikkoman soy sauce, vegetable oil, and freshly ground black pepper.

Pour the marinade over the meat; cover with a plastic film and refrigerate for at least one hour.

Light up your charcoal grill, or preheat your gas grill. (You can also use a cast iron grill pan, the ones you use over the stove top). And brush your grill with a little vegetable oil as this will prevent the meat from sticking.

Remove meat from marinade and pat dry. Place meat on the grill and cook for 8 to 10 minutes per side. (Cooking time will depend on the meat thickness and your personal preferences, either medium or well done). Remove meat from grill and place it on your cutting board. Slice it and serve it with corn tortillas and other garnishes mentioned above.

If you would like to have the same effect as that of the Mexican-American restaurant, place the cooked meat on a preheated cast iron pan, add a few drops of  Soy Sauce and serve immediately. Enjoy!

A delicious Carne Asada recipe made from marinated flank or skirt steak and cooked on the grill. Juicy, tender and a great addition to any Mexican meal!

Carne Asada Recipe

jalapeño, (seeded and minced)

garlic, (minced (about 2 teaspoons))

cilantro

olive oil

juice of 1 orange ((about 1/4 cup of juice))

juice of 1 lime ((about 2 tablespoons of juice))

white wine vinegar

chili powder

coarse salt, (plus more for grilling)

cumin

oregano

ancho chili powder

black pepper, (plus more for grilling)

In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the ingredients except for the steak.&nbsp;

Place the steak in a large baking dish or gallon size ziplock bag and pour the marinade on top. Turn the steak a few times until it&#x27;s completely coated with the marinade and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours. Do not marinate for longer than 8 hours because the meat will start to break down and get mushy. 

Remove steak from marinade and discard any excess marinade. Pat steak dry with paper towels and drizzle with a touch of olive oil, enough to coat each side. Season lightly with coarse salt and black pepper on both sides.

Preheat grill for direct heat grilling at medium-high heat (400-450°F). Grill steaks with the lid closed for 4-8 minutes per side, depending on the thickness. Skirt steak will be closer to 4 minutes per side and flank steak will be closer to 6-8 minutes per side.

Remove steaks and allow to rest for 5 minutes.&nbsp;Slice thinly against the grain and serve with mexican rice, refried beans and avocado salad.

Mexican Carne Asada Marinade

Skirt steak

soy sauce

lime or lemon ((juiced))

tbsp orange juice ((freshly squeezed))

tbsp red wine vinegar

onion ((diced))

cilantro ((chopped))

garlic ((crushed))

Serrano pepper ((diced))

tsp salt

tsp chili powder

tsp black pepper

tsp crushed red pepper flakes ((optional))

Whisk all the marinade&nbsp;ingredients into a bowl

Add meat and marinade to a large Ziploc bag and seal.&nbsp;

Allow the meat to marinate for 4 or more hours, or overnight.

Remove Carne Asada from the grill and allow to rest for a few minutes.

Cut the meat against the grain and serve.

BEST Carne Asada Recipe

½ lbs flank steak

limes (juiced)

cilantro (chopped)

garlic

Whisk

Whisk all of the marinade ingredients together in a small bowl.&nbsp;

Marinate

Add the steak to a glass or non-reactive baking tray and pour the marinade on top. Ensure both side of the steak are well coated, cover the baking tray with plastic wrap and marinate for 1-4 hours. Alternatively, you could marinate in a plastic bag.

Grill

Heat a grill on medium-high heat. Add the carne asada and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side. Remove the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for another 5 minutes.

Slice and Serve

Using a sharp knife, slice the carne asada at an angle against the grain. From there, you can further chop the carne asada into smaller pieces, if you&#039;d like.

Best Carne Asada is made of flank or skirt steak soaked in a flavor packed marinade and grilled to juicy perfection!  This recipe is so easy, and perfectly tender every time! 

Best Carne Asada

Cup Olive Oil

Cup Chopped Fresh Cilantro Leaves

Limes

Worcestershire Sauce

Cloves Garlic (Minced)

Medium Jalapeno

Chili Powder

Salt

Cumin

Black Pepper

Flank

In a medium bowl whisk together the olive oil, cilantro, lime juice, worcestershire sauce, garlic, jalapeno, salt, chili powder, cumin, and pepper to combine.

Add the steak to a large zip top plastic bag, or a long shallow dish and cover with the marinade, turning a few times to coat.

Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, up to overnight.

Remove the steak from the bag to a large plate and discard the marinade.  Allow the steak to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before grilling.

Preheat your grill to high heat.  Cook the steak for 5-8 minutes per side, only turning once until seared and cooked to your desired doneness.

Place the steak on a plate and tent with foil.  Allow the steak to rest for 10 minutes.  Remove the foil and slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.

Serve immediately with your favorite tortillas and toppings.
