A delicious easy Homemade Chai Spice Recipe to use in lattes, muffins, cake, pancakes, waffles, homemade syrup or anything you want to give a wonderful chai flavor. 5 minutes to make and just 6 ingredients!

Homemade Chai Spice Recipe

cinnamon

+ 3/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

ginger

nutmeg

cloves

black pepper

Add all of the ingredients to a small bowl, and whisk very well. Alternatively, add them to a jar with a tight-fitting lid and shake vigorously to ensure even mixing. Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.

Add to any recipe calling for chai spice blend or to any recipe you want to add a chai spice flavor. For a dozen muffins, 2 teaspoons is a good amount.

To make a warm caffeine-free chai latte, add 1 1/2 teaspoons to 8 oz of milk of choice, sweetener (I used 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup) and warm through over the stove on a gentle simmer, whisking constantly until heated through. Alternatively, you can whisk this all in a mug, heat in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes and whisk again well before drinking. Using a creamy milk is best, as spices are richer and more enhanced in fat, so lite, watery milks won&#039;t taste as good. Since these are dry spices (not a chai syrup or chai concentrate like this amazing Masala Chai Rrecipe), the spices will naturally settle at the bottom of the cup. I just keep a fork in my mug and whisk periodically while drinking. Still tastes amazing!

These soft chai spice cookies are like the bestsnickerdoodles combined with your favorite fall flavors! It uses a homemade chai spice mix to create a warm and comforting cookie.

Chai Cookies

all-purpose flour

cream of tartar

baking soda

salt

chai spice

unsalted butter (softened)

sugar

brown sugar (packed)

eggs

vanilla extract

½ tablespoons chai spice

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and chai spice.  

In a separate large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream butter and sugar until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla and beat an additional 1-2 minutes.   

Pour the dry ingredients into the butter mixture and mix on low speed just until the flour is incorporated. Do not overmix.   

Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes, or overnight.   

When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350°F.   

For the topping, mix the granulated sugar and chai spice in a small bowl.    

Scoop the dough into 1 ½ tablespoon scoops and roll each into a ball. Roll the ball in the chai-sugarmixture.  

Arrange about 3-inches apart on a cookie sheet. Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are just starting to turn brown.   

Allow to cool on the cookie sheet for several minutes, then transfer to a wire cooling rack.

This homemade chai spice mix is filled with the warming flavors of ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. Add this spice mix to quick breads, pancakes and waffles, oatmeal, and so much more!
