How To Make the Perfect Charcuterie Board

To start,  select your board size.  This will give you a better idea of how much to purchase for your charcuterie board.  Once you&#x27;ve decided on your board place your cheeses around the board with a couple cheese knives.

Garnish edges with fresh rosemary and thyme if desired.  Place some little plates and bowls around the board that you&#x27;ll use as a guide to help arrange your board.  I space out my plates and bowls as in photos.  Once your cheeses and dishes are set on board, start arranging your meats.  Fold some of the meat for variety and fan out others flat on the board.  See photos above for ideas.

Add some of your fresh berries to the bowls/plates on your board.  Add marinated olives, artichoke hearts and sweet peppers next.  Start filling in spaces with dried fruit and nuts.  If you&#x27;ve still got room, add sliced pickles, dill pickles and cucumbers.  Fill in more spaces with nuts.  Add mustard and honey then fill in with crackers arranging around the board.  My ingredients above are just suggestions, enjoy all of your favorites!  Hope you enjoy.

This homemade cheese will add interesting flavour-filled twist to your more traditional cheese board. You can refrigerate it in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Take out all the ingredients that you plan to add to your cheese board - cheese, crackers, biscuits, fruits and etc.

The cheese needs to be taken out at least 30 minutes before serving - read packet instructions for specific timelines.

Wash and dry the fruits.

Prepare the Ingredients

Depending on the number of ingredients that you are going to add to the cheese board, decide on the board as well as bowls. Bowls can be used for stuff like dips, and condiments, and also fruits and chutneys.

Set out the board and bowls

Start with setting out the big items as well as the bowls in the cheese board - cheeses, bowls for condiments, fruits, and dips.

Fill in the empty space with with the crackers, bread and toast along with fruits like grapes.

Fill in the bowls with the condiments, dips and similar elements. Also fill in any empty spaces with additional crackers, and nuts.

Finish off the cheese board by adding labels, along with cutlery and crockery for the guests to make their own plates.

Place your cheeses on a cutting board and arrange with your jam and fruit varieties and serve with a french baguette.

Learn how to build a beautiful cheese board with this simple technique. Plan on a few ounces of cheese per person. I'd suggest between 3 to 5 cheese varieties, depending on the size of the crowd.

How to Make a Cheese Board

Soft cheese: Goat cheese, Brie

Semi-hard cheese: Cheddar, Gouda

Hard cheese*: Parmesan, Manchego

Blue cheese: Gorgonzola, Roquefort

Nuts: Almonds, pecans, walnuts

Olives, tapenade or pepperoncini peppers

Position your cheese on the board. For best flavor, let the cheese warm to room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving.

Use a fork to create large chunks of blue cheese and Parmesan. Slice semi-hard cheese, like cheddar, and fan them across a section of the board. Cut wedges of brie into slices and soft round cheeses into wedges (it&#8217;s totally fine to leave portions of cheese whole).

Place small bowls of tapenade, olives, honey, or jam on the board. Add color by filling large blank areas with sliced fruit, then place your crackers and nuts across the board in clusters.

Place small spoons or serving utensils in bowls, and position cheese knives near the relevant cheeses. Look at your board and fill any bare spots with additional nuts or fruit. You might drizzle some honey over soft cheese. Now, you&#8217;re ready to serve!

This elegant cheese mousse is perfect for the holidays, and a unique alternative to the usual cheese plate.

Cheese and Fresh Herb Mousse with Zucchini Ribbons

green onions, chopped

(10 g) parsley, finely chopped

tbsp (15 ml) red wine vinegar

salt

(60 ml) 35% cream

(125 ml) quark cheese

Beet microgreens or dried wild rose, crumbled (optional)

In a bowl, combine the green onions and herbs with 2 tbsp (30 ml) of the oil, the vinegar and salt. Set aside half of the mixture in a small bowl and stir in the remaining oil. Set aside until ready to serve.

In another bowl, whisk the cream until firm peaks form. 

Add the quark to the bowl of herbs. Season with salt. Using a spatula, gently fold in the whipped cream. Adjust the seasoning.

Transfer the cheese mixture to a sieve lined with cheesecloth and set over a bowl. Close the cheesecloth around the mixture. Weigh down with a plate and a heavy object, such as a large can. Let drain for 1 hour in the refrigerator. Once fully drained, the cheese mousse will keep for 4 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Meanwhile, slice the zucchini into thin ribbons on a mandoline. Place in a bowl. Season lightly with salt and let degorge for 10 minutes at room temperature. Pat the zucchini dry with paper towels, if needed.

Drizzle a line of the reserved herb-oil mixture along the bottom of four plates. Shape the cheese mousse into quenelles and place beside the herb-oil mixture. Fold the zucchini ribbons into accordions and place about one-quarter of them side by side on each plate next to the cheese mousse. Garnish with the microgreens or wild rose. Serve with crackers or croutons.
