Chicken tikka

chicken (boneless & cubed)

gram flour (or besan)

½ cup curd or yogurt (or greek yogurt)

green bell pepper

red bell pepper (or tomatoes (deseeded))

onion

Salt (as needed)

oil (preferably mustard oil)

lemon juice ((or as needed))

ginger garlic paste (or grated)

red chilli powder (or paprika)

pepper powder

turmeric

kasuri methi (or dried fenugreek leaves (optional))

garam masala

coriander powder

This recipe needs thick curd or greek yogurt. If using homemade yogurt then follow the notes &amp; strain the whey to get thick yogurt.

Add it to a mixing bowl along with red chilli powder, pepper powder, turmeric, kasuri methi, garam masala &amp; coriander powder.

Next add lemon juice, salt &amp; oil. Mix everything well and taste it. Add more chilli powder, salt or lemon if needed to adjust the taste.

Add the cubed chicken to the marinade. Marinate the chicken for at least an hour to 12 hours. Longer the chicken rests more flavorful &amp; succulent it will turn out.&nbsp; You will have to refrigerate if marinating for longer than an hour.

Preparation for chicken tikka

Prepare a baking tray with a foil lined over it. Then place a rack over it.&nbsp;

Cube the veggies and add it to the marinade. Smear the marinade over it. Put them on to skewers, alternating veggies and chicken. Place these over the prepared tray.

Preheat the oven to 240 C for at least 15 minutes.&nbsp; Grill chicken tikka for 20 to 30 mins or till fully done. I suggest checking after 20 mins. This depends on the size of your chicken pieces and how tender it is.

The last 3 to 4 mins, move the chicken to the top rack. Serve chicken tikka with some veggies as a appetizer.

Chicken Tikka Recipe: How to Make Chicken Tikka

Wash the boneless chicken and pat it dry. Next, slice the chicken into bite-sized chunks. To prepare the marinade, take a large bowl and mix yoghurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, salt, garam masala, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, kasoori methi powder and turmeric and stir until well-coated. Mix well and then add mustard oil. Then add, gram flour and chaat masala and mix once again. Once the marinade is done, taste a bit and adjust the seasonings.

Add chicken pieces in it and marinate, covered, for overnight in the refrigerator. The longer you will marinate chicken, the more succulent and juicy it will be. Afterwards, wash the green and red bell pepper, and cut them into cubes in a small bowl. Then, peel the onion and cut into cubes as well in a separate bowl. Keep them aside until required.

Take the marinated chicken out of the refrigerator and add the cubed veggies in it. Marinate them for 10-15 minutes and line a baking tray with a foil or baking sheet. Put a rack over this baking tray for grilling the chicken tikka. Take skewers and put the marinated chicken in it along with bell peppers and onion cubes. Place them alternately and put these skewers on the rack. Make sure there is space underneath the chicken to help distribute the heat more evenly. (Note: Preheat the oven at 250 degree Celsius for grilling the chicken tikka for a minimum of 15 minutes.)

Add the baking tray into the heated oven and grill the tikka for about 20-30 minutes until they are tender. You can check after 15 minutes to check if the chicken is half done. Make sure that the chicken pieces are not that big, else it will take more time to cook and the veggies will be burnt by that time. After 20-25 minutes, rotate the skewers so as to cook from all the ends. Once done, serve with green chutney.

1. Whenever you want to make Chicken Tikka, try to use boneless chicken thighs as they are juicier than the chicken breasts with high-fat content in them. 2. For a rich taste in your chicken tikka, make sure that the spices you are using aren’t old. It’s best if you dry roast and grind the spices for marination purposes. 3. For making restaurant-style Chicken Tikka, it is a must to marinate the chicken twice. First, marinate the chicken with ginger-garlic paste and salt for 20-24 hours. Then, you can marinate this chicken with hung curd and all the other herbs and spices for about 8-10 hours. 4. For that perfect colour in your tikka, try not to use any colours. You can use degi mirch or Kashmiri red chilli powder. It will give your tikka an amazing flavour as well.

Chicken Tikka Recipe - Airfryer/Oven/Crisplid

1½ lb Chicken thighs (cut in 2-inch pieces, or 1.5 inch chicken breast cubes.)

bell pepper (or 1 cup rainbow peppers, de-seededand

onion (cut in 1 inch chunks, separate the onion layers)

tbsp avocado oil (or light olive oil)

¼ cup plain greek yogurt (or ⅓ cup plain yogurt)

tsp ginger (crushed or grated fine, about 1/2 inch ginger)

tsp garlic (crushed

tbsp lime juice (about 1/2 a lime (fresh is better))

salt (adjust

tsp coriander

cumin powder

1.5 tsp garam masala

tsp kasoori methi ((dry fenugreek leaves))

lime juice

tsp Chaat masala ((1 tsp sprinkled all over))

In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, oil, lemon juice, crushed ginger, crushed garlic and all the spices.

Add chicken pieces, capsicum and onion in the marinade, and toss well till everything gets coated. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. If marinating for longer, marinate only chicken and add the veggies just before cooking.

Marinate Chicken

Line the drip pan with aluminum foil for easy clean-up. This is optional though. Place the fry basket in the drip pan.

Arrange the chicken, onions and peppers in the basket in a single layer. Don’t overcrowd them otherwise they won’t crisp up while cooking. If using skewers, place 2-3 skewers.

Insert the basket back. Using the temperature button set 360°F. Set the timer for 8 mins.

After 8 minutes, remove the veggies and keep aside.  Flip the chicken pieces and lightly brush or spray the tikka pieces with oil. This makes the exterior texture extra-crisp.

Insert the basket back and cook at 360F for another 6 minutes.  If using chicken breast, you might have to cook for 7-8 mins instead, depending on thickness of pieces.

Follow the same process for the 2nd batch. It takes me two batches for a 1-1.5 pounds of chicken.

Airfryer:

Place the trivet in the cooking pot in your Mealthy Multipot. Place the mesh basket on top of the trivet.

Layer the chicken, onion and bell pepper evenly.  If using skewers, place 2-3 skewers. Avoid overcrowding them to get that golden crisp exterior. Place the crisplid on the cooker and cook for 8 minutes at 400°F.

Place the crisplid on the cooker and cook for 8 minutes at 400°F. If using chicken breast, you might have to cook for 1-2 minutes longer depending on thickness of pieces.

Follow the same process for the 2nd batch. It takes me two batches for 1-1.5 pound of chicken.

Mealthy Crisplid:

Turn on the oven broiler. Place the marinated chicken, onions and peppers on an aluminum lined baking sheet. If using skewers, place them 1 inch apart.

Place the baking sheet on the top rack and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the chicken cooks through.

Oven Method:

Place the marinated chicken pieces or skewers on the medium-high heat area of a pre-heated grill for 10-12 minutes, or till chicken cooks through.

Outdoor Grill

Chicken Tikka is most commonly served as an appetizer with a popular Indian dip called, Cilantro Chutney.

Sprinkle chicken tikka with fresh lime juice and chaat masala before serving, this extra step really elevates the tikka flavors.

My husband and I enjoy this Chicken Tikka for dinner with a side of a simple garden salad dressed with lemon vinaigrette for a Low-Carb meal. To complete the meal for my girls, I make a side of Saffron Rice or serve it with Butter Naan.

Chicken Tikka

lbs Chicken, Boneless Breast Meat

tbsp Fenugreek, Dry Leaves of Methi

tbsp Garlic

tbsp Ginger, grated

tbsp Lemon, Juice

Yogurt,

tsp Garam Masala

tsp Coriander Powder

tsp Turmeric

tsp Red Pepper Powder

tsp Black Pepper

tsp Salt, To Taste

Wash chicken and pat it dry with a paper towel. Cut it in 3" to 4" pieces.  For best results, make sure that chicken is fully dry (no water dripping). Take all of the above mentioned ingredients (except chicken) in a bowl and mix well. 

Add chicken pieces and make sure to coat marinade to all sides. Transfer all contents to zip lock bag, close the bag and refrigerate for 3-4 hour (preferably overnight). So that chicken absorbs flavor from marinade.

Skew chicken pieces and grill on a charcoal grill untill done. You can also use conventional Oven (400 degree F) for about 20-25 minutes or untill fully cooked.

Enjoy Chicken Tikaa with your choice of chutney.

This air fryer authentic tandoori chicken tikka takes only 20 minutes to make in the air fryer. Served with fresh or store-bought naan as a chicken tikka kebab, you&#039;ve got a quick, easy dinner!

Authentic Tandoori Chicken Tikka {Air Fryer}

oz Chicken breasts (boneless, skinless, cubed)

Green bell pepper (cubed)

Red onion (cubed)

Greek yogurt

tbsp Tandoori masala

tbsp Garlic (minced)

tbsp Ginger (minced)

tsp Kashmiri red pepper

tsp Red chilli powder

Prepare the marinade: In a mixing bowl, add the yogurt, ginger, garlic and spices. Mix well until all the spices are combined.

Marinate the chicken: Add the cubed chicken to the marinade, and massage the marinade into the chicken with your hands or with tongs. Make sure that each piece is evenly coated. Add the onions and peppers, mix together. Let the chicken marinate for 20-30 minutes.

Cook: Add the chicken to the air fryer basket in a single layer, and spray with avocado or olive oil cooking spray. Air fry the chicken at 390°F for 20 minutes. Turn at the 10 minute mark.

Serve: Serve the chicken with some freshly squeezed lemon juice, and serve with naan or basmati rice.

A meal prep friendly twist on chicken tikka masala.

Chicken Tikka Meatballs

chicken

almond flour

salt

tsp garam masala

tsp chili powder

tbsp avocado oil

yellow onion

garlic

ginger

tomato paste

tomatoe sauce

full fat coconut milk

Preheat oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper

Combine all meatball ingredients in a large mixing bowl

Using a 1.5 tbsp measuring scoop, scoop out meatballs onto the baking sheet and roll into tighter balls (about 15 meatballs)

Bake meatballs for 15 minutes and then remove from the oven

While the meatballs bake, dice the onion, and mince the garlic and ginger

Heat avocoado oil in a large nonstick frying pan or an enameled cast iron casserole dish over medium-low heat

Add the diced onion to the pan and saute until soft and fragrant about 4 minutes

Add ginger, garlic and spices to the pan and saute for another minute

Add tomato paste to the pan and saute for another minute

Pour tomato sauce and coconut milk to the pan, mix thoroughly and increase the heat to medium-high until the sauce bubbles

Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow the sauce to simmer for about 15 minutes

Turn off heat and add baked meatballs to the pan. Toss the meatballs so that they are fully covered in the sauce

So flavorful and delicious! The recipe doubled was perfect for our family of 6. We will definitely make it again very soon, so easy to make too!
