Gooey Chocolate Caramel Brownies also known as Knock Ya Naked Brownies are made with cake mix! So easy but so, so yummy! Caramel filling rules!

GOOEY CHOCOLATE CARAMEL BROWNIES

chocolate cake mix

evaporated milk

(1 stick) butter, (melted)

chocolate chips

11 oz bag caramels, (unwrapped)

Preheat oven to 350F degrees.

Spray 9 x13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

In a medium bowl, combine cake mix, 1 cup evaporated milk and ½ cup melted butter.

Mix until combined (batter will be thick).

Spread HALF of the batter into the baking pan (we'll use that other half later).

Put baking dish in the oven and bake for 15 minutes.

While it is baking, start making your caramel filling.

In a medium sauce pan, over medium heat, combine caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk.

Stir frequently until caramel is melted and smooth.

When brownie bottom is finished baking (it will only be partially baked), take out of oven and sprinkle with 2 cups chocolate chips.

Then drizzle with prepared caramel sauce.

Take the rest of the cake batter and drop by the teaspoonfuls onto caramel layer.

Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes (until the center is set). You can stick a toothpick in the center and if it only comes out with caramel and not gooey chocolate cake then it is done.

condensed milk ((1 can))

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a 9 X 13 inch baking dish with parchment paper or foil.

In a large mixing bowl combine sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir well. Then whisk in melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Finally, stir in the chocolate chips.

In a small sauce pot combine the sweetened condensed milk, unwrapped caramels, and salt. Set over medium heat. Stir until the caramels have melted into the condensed milk. Then remove from heat.

Spread half the brownie batter in the prepared baking dish. Pour the caramel over the batter and level out evenly. Then spread the remaining brownie batter over the top of the caramel.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, until a tooth pick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely before trying to cut. Once cool, lift the entire sheet of brownies out of the pan by the edges of the parchment paper. Cut into 24-30 pieces.
