Put approximately 4 inches of water in the saucepan and bring to a slow boil. Place the mixing bowl on top and pour in the heavy cream; let heat. Meanwhile, break up or chop chocolate into small pieces. When the cream feels hot to the touch, add chocolate and whisk until smooth. Whisk in vanilla and brandy. 

Pour into the fondue pot and light the handy fuel underneath; keep the flame low as not to burn the fondue. Arrange strawberries, bananas, pineapple, brownies, marshmallow, cookies or any of your favorite items on a platter and enjoy.

So easy to make and very delicious! Next time we will just make 1/2 the recipe. It made a lot of chocolate! Keeps well in the fridge for rehearing though. 

This literally made hot chocolate instead of fondue. Use like 1/3 of the suggested cream. 

This recipe has WAY too much cream!  2 cups to a pound of chocolate yielded a yummy cocoa. Cut cream to 3/4 cup. Don’t know how anyone could have used this as fondue dip as written.

Easy and awesome!!  We used 1/2 milk chocolate and 1/2 dark chocolate chips. We used Grand Marnier instead of brandy.  This was the best fondue we've made.  It went sooo well with strawberries and angel food cake.  Our guests were all in chocolate heaven.  We'll use this recipe from now on for our fondue.

This is a great, quick recipe that still tastes wonderful. We usually do fondue on holidays and special family nights, and I'm always a bit pressed for time. This recipe cooks up so fast, and I can do it mostly straight out of the pantry. I do substitute half and half for the whipping cream unless I really want to splurge!

The outcome is a very rich and smooth. We cut the recipe in half because it seemed like a lot for the two of us and even then we had a TON left over. We decided that cutting it in half for four people would still yeild left over chocolate. I also found that it was almost too rich, I may do half milk chocolate and half semi-sweet chocolate. Overall it is a great base recipe to make adjustments and improve upon.

It wasa bit much for just me and my husband. My children are both five and did not eat much but enjoyed the dipping part. So, next time we would most likely cut the recipe in half. Also, we added 1 tsp of cherry brandy instead of the Tbsp of brandy called for and I am glad because my husband could taste it right away. We do not like the taste of alcohol and it was just enough. Very good recipe!

Easy Chocolate Fondue

Combine chocolate, 1 cup heavy cream, and vanilla extract in a small, heavy bottomed sauce pan.

Heat mixture over low heat, stirring constantly. Do not boil or overheat.

When chocolate is almost completely melted, remove from heat. Continue stirring until fondue is smooth. (If thicker than desired, stir in additional heavy cream.)

Serve fondue hot with your choice of dippers. Enjoy!

In a microwave-safe bowl, mix the sugar, heavy cream, chocolate, and butter together and microwave for 2 minutes.

Take out of microwave and give it a quick whisk. Add wine and whisk again. Transfer to a fondue pot with a flame underneath. Serve with pound cake cubes, strawberries, and biscotti bits on the side, for dipping.

This is delicious and so easy.  I made  it for my kids and wish I had used semi-sweet instead of bittersweet chocolate.  I made mine in a double boiler which I think is a better way to melt chocolate than a microwave.  But it is smooth and so good!  Will put the leftover over ice cream:)

delicious - subbed cointreau for the cabernet - may try the cab next time.  great consistency.  oh also used semi sweet chocolate.  

Me and a friend made this recipe, and let it warm in the fondue pot for 30 minutes after. We had it with angel food cake and strawberries. It was the best! A major hit! And when you take it out of the microwave, it will not look like fondue. All the chocolate in mine was at the bottom, but after 5 minutes of mixing, it got all blended in. Must say, if you are using a fondue pot for this, I suggest you let it warm in that for a while. I noticed after letting it cook, it got way thicker and better. Angel food cake and pound cake are fantastic with it, and the strawberries are a great healthier choice! I usually only stick to recipes from people I know, but when I saw how many great reviews it got, I knew I had to try! So great, and you will LOVE!!!!!!

Perfect!!  I used Ghiradelli bittersweet morsels and followed the recipe exactly except subbed Cointreau for the wine.  It was delicious and not too sweet!!  Wonderful recipe!  

This is an excellent recipe. I love the versatility and fact that this works for so many food preferences and diets. Any leftover sauce can be used as well to make candy ball by adding finely chopped fruit, nuts, coconut. Yummy. 

This is soooo easy to make and delicious. It's always a hit. I try to use high quality chocolate, but have even made it with generic kind and it's still good. I serve it with: strawberries bananas pretzels small chocolate chip cookies marshmallows graham crackers

Made it right in the Stoneware Fondue pot.  Took a total of 3 minutes to make. Used a 10oz bag of bittersweet girardelli morsels and 1/2 cup of semi-sweet.  Increased the heavy cream and added 1 Tbls of sugar to match the increase in chocolate.  2 minutes in the microwave and then used a whisk and it was shiny and smooth and lovely.   WOW - so easy!

Heat the heavy cream and the salt in a saucepan, over medium heat, until steaming.

Remove from heat and add the chocolate. Let it stand for a couple of minutes, then whisk or stir until melted.

Stir in the vanilla extract and, if using, the cognac.

Adjust the texture by adding more heavy cream or chocolate if needed. Heavy cream will thin it out and chocolate will thicken.

Pour into a fondue pot and serve with your favorite dippers!
