Because the crust is likely a circle, if you make 4 rows of 4, a couple sections may be a bit skimpy so take crust from two skimpy sections and smoosh it together to make a section big enough to contain a Kiss. This is not an exact science, it’s okay if not all sections are exactly the same size.

Surprise Chocolate Kiss Cookies

All-Purpose Flour

tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa

tsp Baking Powder

Salt

tbsp Unsalted Butter

Packed Brown Sugar

Vanilla

pkg Hershey’s Kisses

Combine your flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and then set aside.

In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, and brown sugar until they’re light, creamy, and smooth.

Beat in the egg &amp; vanilla and then mix until well combined.

Add in the flour mixture and mix well.

On a piece of plastic wrap, place your cookie dough down in the center and wrap it up into a log, using the plastic wrap to secure it in shape.

Place the cookie dough in the fridge for at least 1 hour.

When the dough has been successfully chilled, slice the cookie dough into 1/4in to ½ inch thick slices.

Soften the cookie dough slightly by rolling it around in our hands and then flatten it.

Place an unwrapped Hershey kiss in the center and then wrap the cookie dough around the kiss to securely hide it away. Place it on a greased baking sheet and continue until all of the cookies have been made.

Bake in a 350F degree oven for 10-12 minutes. Remove the cookies from the oven and immediately place them in a shallow dish filled with granulated sugar. Be careful, the cookies will be HOT.

Transfer to a cooling rack and enjoy slightly warm!

Chocolate Kiss Cookies

Unsalted Butter (softened at room temperature)

Sugar (plus a little more for rolling the cookies in)

Brown Sugar

All Purpose Flour

Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

Milk Chocolate Hershey Kisses (unwrapped)

Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Place the semi sweet chocolate in a microwave safe bowl.  Heat in 20 second intervals, stir after each interval until the chocolate is fully melted.  Set aside for the chocolate to cool.

Cream together the butter, sugar and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.

Add egg, vanilla and cooled melted chocolate and beat together. You do not want the chocolate to be hot or it will cook the egg.

Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl.

Slowly add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, beating until incorporated.

Roll into 24 1 inch balls.  Roll each of these cookie dough balls into a bowl of granulated sugar and place on a cookie sheet several inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges of the cookies are set. While the cookies are baking, unwrap the Hershey Kisses so they are ready.

Once the cookies are done, place a Hershey Kiss in the center of each cookie once you remove them from the oven.

Then move the cookies from the pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
