These light, fluffy waffles are loaded with robust chocolate flavor from dark cocoa powder and dark chocolate chunks and are bursting with fresh sliced strawberries!

Dark Chocolate Chunk Strawberry Waffles

whole wheat or all purpose flour*

cocoa powder

chocolate protein powder**

tsp baking powder

stevia baking blend***

cinnamon

salt

eggs

almond milk

tsp vanilla extract

strawberries

chocolate

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, protein powder, baking soda, stevia, cinnamon and salt until combined.

In another bowl, beat together egg, vanilla and almond milk. Pour egg mixture into flour mixture and mix with a rubber spatula until combined. Fold in strawberries and chocolate chunks.

Heat a waffle iron and spray generously with cooking spray. Spoon heaping ladlefuls of batter onto waffle iron and close top. Cook waffle for 5-7 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Repeat the process with the remainder of the batter. You should get 4 large waffles.

Top waffles with sliced strawberries and warm pancake syrup if desired. Enjoy!

all-purpose flour

tsp baking soda

tsp salt

Preheat waffle iron.

Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, sugar and cocoa in a large mixing bowl.

Stir in milk, eggs and butter and mix until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips.

Scoop out almost 1 cups worth of batter and pour onto greased waffle iron. Cook for a few minutes, or until golden brown.

The perfect decadent breakfast made with basic ingredients. Rich chocolate waffles are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Topped with a luscious Nutella cream cheese topping and fresh berries for a sweet way to start your day.

Chocolate Waffles

tbsp natural unsweetened cocoa powder

tbsp sugar

milk

tsp vegetable oil

tbsp cream cheese (softened)

tbsp Nutella

Add flour, cocoa powder, sugar and baking powder to a large mixing bowl. Whisk together and make a well in the middle.

In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs and oil.

Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring constantly as you go.

Pour ¼ of the pancake batter into the waffle maker.

Cook until crisp on the outside, about 4 to 5 minutes, depending on your waffle maker.

Transfer the waffles to a serving dish and keep warm while you make the topping.

Mix together the cream cheese and Nutella until fully combined.

Spread the Nutella topping on the warm waffles. Top with fresh fruit and dust with powdered sugar.

Paleo Chocolate Waffles

almond flour

tapioca flour

coconut flour

cacao powder

cashew milk

maple syrup (or honey)

tsp white wine vinegar

maple syrup

Pre-heat your waffle maker.

Add all of the dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl and whisk together.

Add all of the wet ingredients to a small mixing bowl and whisk until the eggs are lightly beaten. Then, pour the wet ingredients into the dry and whisk until well combined.

Scoop approximately 1/3 to 1/2 cup of batter into the center of your waffle maker and close the lid. Cook per the instructions on your waffle maker.

While the waffles are cooking, add the chocolate chips and maple syrup to a small glass bowl and microwave for 20-30 seconds or until the chocolate is melted. Stir together.

Serve the waffles with a drizzle of the syrup, a handful of fresh blueberries and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

I actually added pumpkin purée instead of cacao and made them into savoury pumpkin waffles. Served them with homemade chicken bone broth.
