Quite possibly the easiest fish taco recipe you&#039;ll ever make and one that will be a mega crowd pleaser!

Smashed Avocado Fish Tacos

Gimme Chimmi Seasoning

olive oil

flour tortillas

kosher salt and lime wedges

avocados,

chives

salt and freshly cracked black pepper

lime juice

Sprinkle the Gimme Chimmi all over the cod along with 1 teaspoon of the olive oil and let it stand for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat a grill pan on the stove or bbq over medium high heat and add the remaining olive oil. Season the fish with salt and pepper and cook, flipping halfway until easily flaked. About 6-8 minutes total. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the cooked fish and set aside.

While the fish is cooking, combine the diced avocado and chives in a small bowl and smash to combine. Season with salt, pepper and lime juice.

Char the tortillas on both sides over an open flame.

Gently break the fish into large chunks. Evenly distribute the smashed avocado on each tortilla and top with large flakes of the fish. Serve with hot sauce on top, extra cilantro and limes on the side.

20 Minute Cod Fish Tacos

corn tortillas,

avocado

garlic,

limes, divided

cilantro

½ cup plain yogurt (not Greek)

salt, divided

sustainably sourced cod filet

Cajun seasoning,

butter

cabbage

Pico de gallo, optional

Warm Tortillas

Wrap tortillas in aluminum foil and place in oven set at 300 degrees. Alternatively, just before serving, warm the tortillas in a microwave, wrapped in a damp paper towel.

Make Avocado Crema

Puree avocado, garlic, juice from one lime, cilantro, yogurt and ½ teaspoon salt in a mini prep or food processor until smooth and creamy.

Cut and Season Cod

Cut cod into cubes (about ¾-inch to 1 inch) and spread out on a plate. Sprinkle with Cajun seasoning and salt. Toss to coat with the spices.

Cook Fish

Heat butter in a large non-stick skillet over high heat. When butter is melted and just starting to brown, add in the cod. Let cook, stirring once or twice until cooked through, about 6 minutes. Remove from the heat.

Assemble Tacos

Divide the cod among the tortillas, top with cabbage and avocado cream. Cut the remaining lime into wedges. Serve the tacos with lime and pico de gallo.

Excellent fish taco recipe.  Once assembled, the tacos look very appetizing just like they are pictured with the recipe.  My husband remarked that the tacos "looked and tasted gourmet restaurant quality."  I made the pico de gallo too, which says "optional", but I highly suggest following the red and yellow tomato pico de gallo recipe, it's delicious.  It will, of course, add additional time, but it's worth it.  For the Avocado Crema I used Kite Hill non-dairy yogurt instead of plain yogurt and the Crema tasted fantastic.  This is a tasty and beautiful looking dish with wonderful vibrant colors.  A healthy dish that you can feel good about eating.

My non-fish lovers decided they DO in fact like fish if it’s made like this! It’s on a frequent rotation.

I've made a number of fish tacos and these rank with some of the best!  The browned butter flavor with the Cajun seasoning was great!  I did substitute 1/2 of the yogurt with mayo for the Avocado Crema-because I always put a tad in my guacamole.  Maybe next time I'll try it in it's healthier version.

We will definitely make this again! The crema makes the tacos taste fresh.

We made this for dinner tonight. My store was out of Cajun spice so we used Old Bay. It was a delicious dinner.

Cod Fish Tacos

Mexican beer-battered cod, fried to perfection topped with chipotle cream sauce and garnished with red cabbage, thinly sliced jalapeños and radishes, pico de gallo, and avocado. Wrapped in a warm corn tortilla, this taco has the perfect level of heat and combination of textures.

Beer-Battered Fish Tacos

all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)

chili powder

salt (plus more for seasoning)

black pepper

oregano

dark Mexican beer

Vegetable oil (for frying)

Corn tortillas

Crema Mexicana

chipotle pepper in adobo sauce

lemon

lemon juice

salt

Shredded cabbage

Avocado slices

Pico de gallo

Lime wedges

Generously salt cod and sprinkle flour over the strips and toss to coat.

In a large mixing bowl, add flour, chili powder, salt, pepper, and oregano.

In a medium bowl whisk beer and egg.

Pour wet ingredients to flour mixture and stir together until well mixed and set aside at room temperature.

In a large skillet, preheat oil to 350 degrees F.

Dip fish into batter and allow excess batter to drip off before adding to oil. Fry fish, flipping to ensure it&#039;s evenly browned, 4 to 5 minutes, then place on a paper towel-lined plate.

In a food processor or blender, combine crema, chipotle in adobo and sauce, lemon zest and lemon juice, water, and salt until smooth; transfer to a small bowl.

Serve tacos with chipotle cream sauce and garnish with toppings of your choice.
