Baked crackers are very healthy and it’s made with whole wheat flour, onion, cilantro etc. These crackers are much better and healthy than store bought. Baked savory onion crackers are crispy and delicious. These healthy whole wheat onion crackers are loaded with white sesame seeds and are mildly spiced.

(250 gramsrams) wheat flour (aata)

medium finely chopped onion

cilantro (coriander/dhaniya) leaves

green chili

onion powder

¼ tsp black pepper powder (kaali mirch powder)

tbsp dried fenugreek leaves (Kasuri methi)

½ tbsp yogurt(dahi)/ sour cream

tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)

tbsp sesame seeds (safed til)

½ tsp baking soda

Salt

In a large bowl add wheat flour, salt to taste, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, green chili, fresh cilantro leaves, baking soda, onion powder, dried fenugreek leaves, finely chopped onion and sour cream (you can also add yogurt/curd). Mix well and add 4 tbsp olive oil. Knead very tight dough using very less water. Cover dough with damp cloth or with wet paper towel. Let it sit for 20 minutes. .

After 20 minutes, massage dough for the final time. Now take 1 tbsp dough, make round ball and roll in as thin as possible. With a square cookie cutter cut it and prepare rest of them in the same way. Using a fork prick them (crackers won’t puff up). .

On a cooking sheet transfer all the crackers and bake them for 22 minutes on 350 F/ 180C. Take them out after 11 minutes and flip them and put it back in the oven. Do not over bake as onion will turn bitter. After 22 minutes, take out crackers from the oven and let them cool down. Crunchy, munchy healthy baked crackers are ready for serving. Serve with your favorite topping or simply enjoy guilt free munching with tea.

Healthy Baked Crackers Recipe

Also known as &#039;Taralli Pugliese&#039;, these Italian crackers are great with coffee or tea; perfect for snack, or even for a light breakfast.  And you can store them for months!

Taralli Recipe (Italian Crackers)

white wine

flour

salt

fennel seeds

Start preparing your taralli by using a medium-sized bowl and whisking olive oil and white wine in it.

Add flour and salt.  Combine until a dough starts to form. (You can use a spatula, a wooden spoon, or even your hands to mix).

Add fennel seeds and mix.  At this point, it&#039;s better to use your hands to combine the taralli dough properly.

Knead dough until smooth.

Form taralli Pugliese dough into a ball, place it into a greased bowl, and cover with a clean kitchen towel.  

Set aside for 30 minutes.

Preparing the taralli dough:

Take a small piece of taralli dough and roll it into a log (about 4 cm long). Connect both ends of the log to form a small circle.  Note: This recipe makes about 40 pieces of crackers.

While finishing the dough, bring water to a boil using a medium-sized pot.

Slowly drop the taralli into the pot of boiling water.  (Do not drop everything at the same time, do it in batches.)

Once the crackers float, use a slotted spoon to take them out of the pan and place them on a clean kitchen towel to dry.

Once the taralli are completely dry, preheat the oven to 200°C (375°F).  

When the oven is ready, place the crackers on a baking tray lined with a baking sheet.

Place the baking tray in the middle of the oven for 20 to 25 mins.  For the last 7 minutes, move the tray on the top part of the oven to give the taralli a golden color.

Italian Crackers (Taralli)

Step up your snacks or parties with this homemade crackers recipe! This crispy flatbread style cracker is full of flavor, and all natural with no additives.

Homemade Crackers Recipe

whole wheat flour (or substitute all purpose flour)

all purpose flour

Italian seasoning*

black or white sesame seeds

garlic powder

black pepper

kosher salt +

water

maple syrup (or honey)

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a food processor, pulse the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, Italian seasoning, sesame seeds, garlic powder, black pepper, and 1 teaspoon kosher salt. (Alternatively, you can stir these ingredients together in a bowl.)

In a liquid measuring cup, stir together the olive oil, water and maple syrup. Then turn on the food processor and slowly drizzle in the liquids (through the hole in the lid) while the motor is running until a ball forms. You may have a little water left over; or, add a drizzle of water if necessary. (Alternatively, pour in the liquid ingredients and stir until a very sticky dough forms.)

Divide the dough into two dough balls. Place them on the counter, cover with a towel, and rest 10 minutes.

Lightly flour a clean countertop. Take one dough ball and use a rolling pin to roll out a thin rectangle, approximately 10 inches by 14 inches (the thinner the crispier!). Sprinkle more kosher salt evenly on top and roll over it several more times to incorporate it into the top. Transfer the dough to a sheet of parchment on your countertop. Cut with a roller to make squares about 1 1/2 inches on each side. Transfer the parchment paper to a baking sheet. Do the same with the other sheet of dough.

Place the baking sheets in the oven and bake for 6 minutes, then rotate the pans (and switch oven racks) and bake about 8 to 10 minutes more until lightly browned. The crackers on the edges may get a little darker depending on how even your oven is. Cool for several minutes before eating; the crackers will become crispier as they cool.

Storage: Store the crackers in a sealable container for up to 1 week, but leave the lid ajar / loose. This keeps the crackers crispy! If you&#8217;d like them crispier after a few days, bake at 225 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
