Crock-Pot Lasagna

c. marinara sauce, divided

whole-milk ricotta

c. Parmesan,

(16-oz.) box lasagna noodles, unboiled

c. mozzarella

Do you usually add ricotta to your lasagna?

Loved this!  I have made many lasagnas but this was my first in a slow cooker .  Excellent results!  It even produced the slightly crunchy  Cheesy edges like in a baked lasagna.  I’ll definitely make this again but will add a layer of fresh spinach the next time around as we all love that in our lasagna.

Best lasagna I’ve ever made!  No need to grease the crock pot.  In addition to ground beef (yes you need to remove grease once meat is brown). I also included 2 links, Italian sweet sausage sliced and browned. Cooked on low for 3.5 hours and lasagna noodles were perfect. Added a splash of red wine to meat and pasta sauce before layering into pot. I am amazed on how good this was.  Never going back to traditional method.

We've tried this with ground beef, a mixture of beef & italian sausage, and most recently with ground green onion venison/pork mixture and it has been a crowd pleaser every single time. I've come back to this page several times over the years and now I kind of know it by heart. One of our family's favorites for sure.

I would like to note that after making this several times, you can tweak to your liking and it will always turn out awesome. We use 5 cheese italian blend along with ricotta. We double the cheese every time, still turns out fine. YOU DO NOT NEED oven ready lasagna noodles, they'll turn into pudding anyway. Cut out the problem of having to find them by using regular lasagna noodles (dry) and incorporating about 1/2 cup of water to your sauce before layering(rinsing out your jars will do nicely). 

Don't be afraid to experiment.

I've been creating lasagna this way for several years. I usually use italian sausage rather than beef  and an italian blend for the cheese rather than plain mozzarella. I've used small curd cottage cheese a few times (cheaper than riccota), but ricotta is so much better. You don't need to use the no-boil noodles as some have suggested. Regular dry lasagna noodles are fine. In fact they work better in this recipe (the no-boil noodles turn into a pastey mush). It will never beat the flavor and consistency of lasagna baked in an oven, but it's close, and an excellent substitute when you need an easy middle of the week meal.

Made this once, family loved it. Tonight I’m making it again. We had no working oven for MONTHS, so this was a nice change in the repeated meals

Made this the other day, I seemed to mis-measure the sauce because I ran out near the last later.  I will have to plan it better next time.  I also think 4 hours was a bit much, the edges were burnt crusty and not just well done crusty.  I will do 3.5 hours next time and maybe overlap the noodles a little better.  Over all it was good and eaten for the most part, but the hard crusty edges made the outer layer a bit much to eat.

I made this last night for my family and it was a hit! I used cottage cheese instead because I don't care for ricotta. I cooked mine about 4 1/2 hours and that was almost too long. I'll cook it 4 hours next time. I'm a vegetarian, so I didn't eat any, but I'll be using veggie meat when I make it next time!

Absolutely delicious! My entire family loves this dish and constantly asks me to make it. I followed all the instructions and have tried this with both sausage and ground beef and either still tastes amazing!

The Secret To The Best Lasagna Ever? A Crock-Pot!

Crockpot Lasagna is a great recipe for a hearty meal during a busy week! It&#039;s also a great freezer meal to make ahead and cook later.

Crockpot Lasagna

lbs lean ground beef ((cooked))

lasagna noodles ((oven baked/uncooked/broken in half))

onion

tsp white pepper

oregano

bell pepper

mozzarella cheese

parmesan cheese

oz pasta sauce

Add meat, seasonings, vegetables, and sauce to slow cooker. Cook on low for 2 hours.

Add lasagna noodles and cover with sauce. Top with Mozzarella cheese. Cook for an additional 5 hours.

Stir lasagna and top with parmesan cheese. Cover and cook for an additional 20 minutes or until cheese has melted.

Serve.

Add cooked ground beef, seasonings, noodles, and uncooked vegetables to a freezer safe airtight bag. Freeze for up to 3 months. DO NOT add cheese or pasta sauce to the freezer bag.

To cook: Thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Add ingredients from bag and pasta sauce to the Crock Pot. Cook on low for 6 hours.

Stir well to make sure lasagna noodles are covered. Add mozzarella cheese and cook an additional hour. Stir well.

Top with parmesan cheese, cover, and cook an additional 20 minutes or until cheese is melted .

Crockpot Lasagna Freezer Instructions

Crock Pot Lasagna means no need for an oven! Lasagna noodles, meat sauce and cheese made all in one pot. Easy and delicious!

Crock Pot Lasagna

onion, (finely diced)

garlic

jar spaghetti sauce (a 32 ounce jar can be used if necessary)

water

container small curd cottage cheese ((or ricotta cheese))

mozzarella cheese, (divided use)

grated parmesan cheese, (divided use)

fresh parsley, (chopped (optional))

lasagna noodles

Brown and crumble ground beef in a large skillet (or if your crock pot has a saute setting, use that.)

Then add in onion and garlic and cook for additional 1-2 minutes.

Drain excess grease from beef and put back into skillet. Pour in spaghetti sauce and water. Give it all a good stir.

In a separate bowl, mix together cottage cheese, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, 2 tbsp. parmesan cheese, egg, pepper and chopped parsley. (Put your remaining cheeses back in the fridge, you'll be using those as a topping later)

Spray crock pot with no-stick cooking spray. Scoop approximately 1 cup of meat sauce into bottom of slow cooker.

Top with one layer of uncooked lasagna noodles. Just do your best to break them up to fit into your crock pot.

Next top with a layer of cheese mixture.

Keep adding layers, ending with meat sauce. I was able to get 3 layers in my 5-quart slow cooker.

Put the lid on and cook on low for 4-6 hours. You want most of the liquid to be absorbed and noodles should be soft.

When it is finished cooking, add remaining cheeses and sprinkle with parsley.

Put the lid back on for about 10-15 more minutes until cheese is melted.
