Slow cooked all day until the meat shreds effortlessly, this Slow Cooker Cuban Pork is so delicious and perfect served over rice, in tacos, or as sandwiches.

Slow Cooker Cuban Pork

extra virgin olive oil

orange juice

lime juice

salt

cumin

oregano

red pepper flakes

black pepper

garlic (,

onion

bay leaf

pork shoulder roast

In a medium bowl, whisk together the oil, orange juice, lime juice, salt, cumin, oregano, red pepper flakes, pepper, and garlic.

Make slits in the pork with a paring knife and rub liberally all over with the oil mixture.

Place pork in the slow cooker, along with the onion and bay leaf. Pour the remaining juices from the bowl over the pork.

Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.

Transfer pork to a cutting board and let cool slightly. Using two forks, shred into thick chunks.

Serve with cilantro-lime rice and black beans; spoon some of the sauce over the top.

This Instant Pot Cuban Pork Recipe features tender shredded pork marinated in a garlic, cumin, and citrus marinade, then cooked to perfection in the Instant Pot.

Instant Pot Garlicky Cuban Pork

pork shoulder blade roast (lean, all fat removed)

garlic

juice of 1 grapefruit (about 2/3 cup)

juice of 1 lime

lime wedges (for serving)

cilantro (for serving)

hot sauce (for serving)

tortillas (optional for serving)

salsa (optional for serving)

PRESSURE COOKER: Cut the pork in 4 pieces and place in a bowl.

In a small blender or mini food processor, combine garlic, grapefruit juice, lime juice, oregano, cumin and salt and blend until smooth.

Pour the marinade over the pork and let it sit room temperature 1 hour or refrigerated as long as overnight.

Transfer to the pressure cooker, add the bay leaf, cover and cook high pressure 80 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally.

Remove pork and shred using two forks.

Remove liquid from pressure cooker, reserving then place the pork back into pressure cooker. Add about 1 cup of the liquid (jus) back, adjust the salt as needed and keep warm until you're ready to eat.

Made this last night and just finished leftovers with a fried egg for breakfast! I used a bone in shoulder and had to add some extra time to the IP so it would shred (went 100 minutes at high pressure).  Served it with charred tortillas and all the toppings.  I made rice, but we barely touched it since the tacos were so amazing.   Usually when we do pulled pork, my husband spends hours smoking it.  This was so much easier and so tasty.  Thanks!

I love the pernil, and this is right in line with it. So easy and delicious. Have you ever considered going down the sous vide route? This works great for it as you cook it in the marinade. You have done every other easy prep piece of equipment out there (air fryer, slow cooker, and instant pot). I have all those cookbooks. Keep wondering when sous vide will come up. Thanks for all you do!

Made this today using shoulder roast trimmed as best I could. No idea where to find a blade roast. Otherwise, made as written in the crockpot and it was EXCELLENT. Served it with Gina’s Arroz Congri, and it was equally good on a tortilla with some avocado and hot sauce. Looking forward to leftovers!

Do NOT cook pork tenderloin in pressure cooker for 80 minutes!   More like 7-8 minutes, then allow pressure to release naturally for 10-12 minutes.  
It was very good, but I wish I'd marinated overnight at least, to get a bit more flavor.

This was restaurant-quality delicious and ridiculously easy! Served with flax tortillas, avocado, diced white onion, cilantro, and tomatillo salsa, with a green salad. This will 100% go into our rotation ASAP! The only question is, what to do with the leftover super flavorful broth?

Not bad but also not super flavorful. Impossible to trim all the fat as well. Would add more spices next time.

So good. We make garli la tostones for sliders, put clothe Cuban pork, ached Swiss, &amp; mustard. Crazy good. 

This is such an easy and delicious Cuban pork recipe! I have made it several times (both in the instant pot and slow cooker). My favorite way to serve it is with white rice and Skinnytaste Quick and Delicioso Cuban Style Black Beans.

It’s definitely worth it to marinate overnight if time permits! The only substitution I ever make is dried oregano when I’m unable to find fresh, and occasionally I’ll add a little extra garlic. But otherwise, I follow this recipe exactly and it has never let me down!
