Denny's Fried Cheese Melt

sourdough bread

butter

American cheese

cheese

Heat a skillet low to medium heat. Butter one slice of bread, and place in skillet, cover bread with cheese, you may need to break the cheese slices apart, but be sure to cover the entire piece of bread. Lay down cooked cheese sticks in equal distances from each other, top with remaining cheese, and buttered slice of bread. Cook on both sides until golden brown. Serve with Marina sauce.

deli ham (sliced thin)

American deli cheese

Swiss processed cheese

eggs

milk

butter (divided use)

salt

black pepper

In a small bowl combine the two eggs and the milk.  Whisk them together until uniform.

Heat a small non-stick skillet over low-medium heat. Add 2 teaspoons of butter to the skillet.

Once the butter has melted, add the eggs. Season eggs with salt and pepper.

Stir the eggs continually until they have set firm. Remove eggs from the skillet and set aside.

Wipe out the skillet and place the ham slices in the skillet.

Cook the ham for a couple of minutes. Flip the ham and cook on the other side for an additional 2 minutes. When the ham has heated through, remove it from the skillet and set aside.

Butter one slice of bread and put it buttered side down into the skillet.

Top with two slices of American cheese, then the eggs, then ham, then Swiss cheese, then with the remaining slice of sourdough bread.

Butter the top piece of bread.

Cook on low to low-medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until the bread is toasted brown.

Cut the sandwich in half when serving.

Denny’s Red Velvet Puppies with Cream Cheese Icing

red velvet cake mix

water

white chocolate chips

vegetable oil (for frying)

butter (softened)

cream cheese (softened)

lemon extract

vanilla extract

sugar

Preheat oil to 350 degrees.

&nbsp;In a medium-sized bowl combine cake batter mix and 3 eggs. Use a blender to mix until the batter has no lumps. Add 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips and mix in with a spoon. Use a 1-ounce cookie scoop to drop batter into hot oil. Fry on one side for approximately 1 minute and then flip over and fry on another side for about a minute.&nbsp;

Remove pancake puppy onto a plate lined with paper towels. This grease will not be usable for anything but making these red velvet puppies, the oil will turn red. So be sure to make something else first and finish up with these. Make cream cheese dipping sauce by combining cream cheese and butter in a medium-sized bowl. Beat together cream cheese and butter until they are light and fluffy.&nbsp;

Add approximately 1/2 cup powdered sugar, into butter and cream cheese. Once the first portion of cream cheese has been incorporated add the next portion, and then the remaining powdered sugar. Add vanilla, lemon extract, and 1 tablespoon of milk. Blend in flavorings and milk. Place dipping sauce into a small bowl and serve with red velvet puppies.

Denny's Pancake Puppies

pancake mix (use the kind where you only need to add water)

Heat vegetable oil to 350 degrees.&nbsp;

In a medium-sized bowl combine pancake mix and water.&nbsp; Stir until well blended.

Use a 1-ounce cookie scoop to drop the batter into the oil.&nbsp; Cook until browned on the bottom, and flip over and cook for another 30 seconds.

Remove from oil, and drain.&nbsp; Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.&nbsp; Serve with maple syrup.

These remind me of a lot of funnel cakes.  I hope you enjoy them.

In a medium-size bowl, beat together the eggs and the milk.

Add flour, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt into the egg mixture. Beat to combine.

Strain the custard mixture using a wire mesh strainer into another bowl.

Heat a skillet or a griddle to about 350 degrees.

Brush the skillet/griddle with butter.

Place the bread into the custard mixture, then flip over the bread, and then place the bread onto the hot cooking surface.

Cook for 1 to 2 minutes on each side. The bread should be golden in color when cooked through.

Remove the French toast from the skillet.

Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Cut the French toast diagonally if desired.

Serve with butter and maple syrup.

Really nice and creamy coating. I have added crushed corn flakes, crushed cheerios, crushed frosted flakes as a last coating before they hit the cast iron. I roll the flakes on my cutting board
to a fine size not powder and put each slice onto the crushed flakes and then into the buttered
pan. Nice and crunchy. Powdered cinnamon/sugar as a dusting. What a great punch that gives.

This was so God, no mushy middle, I did tweak a little as well.  I mixed half brown and white sugar, added a dash of nutmeg, a little more of the cinnamon and vanilla.  Over all this was a hit with the kids.

This is delicious!    My now favorite French toast recipe!

Delicious! It would dirty the blender but I think I’d combine the custard ingredients in a blender next time. I’m going to make French toast this way from now on. So good with raspberry topping and creme freche!

I hope my interpretation of this great recipe may clarify some questions about it's preparation.
