Cinnamon Fried Apples

apples

lemon ((for juicing on the sliced apples))

brown sugar

white sugar

butter

cinnamon

Peel and core apples.

Squeeze lemon on them as you go to prevent browning.

Chop into bite-sized pieces.

In a pan with high sides, add sugar, butter and cinnamon.

Cook over low-medium heat for about 2 minutes, stirring frequently until melted.

Add apples.

Continue to stir and cook for about 12-14 minutes, until softened. The exact timing will depend on how big the apple pieces are.

Serve warm.

Cracker Barrel Fried Apples
Have you ever been to Cracker Barrel? They are restaurants that are popular across the south and midwest United States. Their menu is huge, and some of their most popular dishes are the side dishes.
Hash brown casserole…and fried apples. That’s what we love to get at Cracker Barrel. This fried apple recipe is a copycat version of Cracker Barrel apples. So delicious, warm and sweet.
What are the best apples for fried apples?
There are so many varieties of apples in the grocery store. How do you know which to pick for your recipe?
For this recipe you’ll want to choose a tart apple that will hold up to the heat and not get mushy. Look for Granny Smith, Fuji or Pink Lady. These are all common apples that we have in Aldi or Walmart so you shouldn’t have a problem finding them.
 
Ingredients
4 cups chopped apples
1 lemon (for juicing on the sliced apples)
¼ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon cinnamon

How to Make CINNAMON FRIED APPLES {RECIPE VIDEO}

The Best Old Fashioned Fresh Apple Cake recipe is so easy, moist, full of fresh apples, nuts, raisins, cinnamon and is the best recipe ever!

The Best Old Fashioned Fresh Apple Cake

all-purpose flour

baking soda

salt

cinnamon, ground

nutmeg, ground

butter, room temperature (2 sticks)

sugar

eggs

vanilla extract

apples, peeled, cored and diced (about 3 cups)

pecans

raisins

ice cream, any flavor (optional, for serving)

caramel sauce, homemade or store bought (optional, for serving)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Prepare a springform pan with butter or cooking spray and place on a rimmed baking sheet.  Set aside.

In a medium sized mixing bowl combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg. Set aside.

In another bowl, place your butter and sugar.

In another bowl, using a handheld mixer, on medium speed, beat butter and sugar together until smooth, about 5 minutes.

Add eggs and vanilla.

Scrape sides of bowl with a spatula.

Add in flour mixture and blend on low speed until combined.

Fold in apples, raisins and nuts.  Pour batter into your prepared pan.

Bake for 45 to 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Allow cake to cool completely.

Use a knife to loosen cake from the outside of your springform pan.

Serve cake warmed and sliced with a scoop of ice cream and some caramel sauce.  !

This cake can easily be reheated at 325 degrees for 7-9 minutes or in your microwave.  Enjoy

Apple Hand Pies are small, flaky pastries filled with cinnamon-spiced apples and finished with a simple vanilla glaze. Made with store-bought pie crust for quick assembly.

Apple Hand Pies Recipe

Honeycrisp apple (peeled, cored, and diced)

lemon juice

store-bought pie crust

egg (beaten)

milk

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Add the diced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.

Cook 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples soften slightly but stay firm enough to hold their shape.

Remove from heat and let cool completely.

Assemble the Hand Pies:

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.

Roll out the pie crusts on a floured surface and cut out 12 circles using a 4–5 inch cutter.

Place a spoonful of cooled filling in the center of a dough circle.

Top with a second circle, press the edges together, and crimp with a fork.

Brush tops with beaten egg.

Cut two small vents in the top of each pie.

Prepare the Filling:

Arrange pies on the baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Let cool about 10 minutes.

Bake:

Whisk powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, and vanilla until smooth. Add more milk only if needed.

Drizzle over cooled pies and let set.
