I adore this recipe. I'm in the same boat as redapple, tripling the recipe. I do leave the brown bits and deglaze, but I also triple and carmelize the onions while reducing four times the beef broth. It takes about an extra fourty minutes but it's soooo worth it. Really gives it the extra punch of flavor.

I truly enjoyed this recipe because the tomato paste made the gravy different from what I grew up with. Next time I too will add more beef broth. My husband loved it. We used frozen beef patties for burgers instead, that was the first time they were tender and juicy.

This was the first time I had homemade Salisbury steak and I was not disappointed. My fiancé gave it a 10/10 as well. We put it on top of garlic mashed potatoes. The only problem I had was the sauce got thick really fast so I improvised by adding more Beef stock and it worked out great. I highly recommend this to anyone!

This is a meal that my entire family loves!  Since I have to double, sometime triple, the recipe, I finish mine in the oven instead of on the stovetop.  Also, the last few times I haven't wiped the drippings out of the pan before starting the gravy.  It gives the gravy a little bit "extra".

Terrible recipe. Tomato paste totally took over dish, which I doubled so I could have two meals. Plus, it took much longer than directed. Complete waste of my time and money. It should be removed from your website.

I was never a fan of Salisbury steak until I made these. Recipe was delicious and so easy to make. I put it on top of mashed potatoes with a side of stove top because my boyfriend is obsessed with that. The only thing that I would change would be to add more beef stock other than that it was absolutely delicious and extremely easy

This recipe is seriously lacking. The part5ies were good, but the sauce needed considerable doctoring. Very bland, as it written. I added garlic, red wine, dijon mustard and soy sauce to make it edible.

My husband had never had anything but 'TV Dinner' Salisbury Steak. He loved this as did I. I did not wipe out the pan drippings, just removed anything that looked like it might go over into overly done. I think next time i will make them with fresh bread crumbs as it will make the patties even more tender. Loved it!

It had way too much tomato paste...I found it overpowered the dish. I added more beef stock, one cup wasn’t enough, plus I wanted to lighten up the tomato paste flavor. I’m not sure I will make this again.

Learn how to make easy Instant Pot Salisbury Steak (Pressure Cooker Salisbury Steak) with mushroom gravy. Juicy homemade Salisbury steak bursting with flavors, drizzled with sweet-umami-savory mushroom gravy. Deliciously family-friendly comfort food!

Instant Pot Salisbury Steak

(454 grams) ground beef

(30 grams) panko breadcrumbs

½ (140 grams) medium onion (, finely minced (or 1 teaspoon onion powder))

(7 grams) garlic (, minced (or ¼ teaspoon garlic powder))

(65 grams) large egg (, beaten)

(15 milliliters) regular soy sauce

½ teaspoon (2.5 milliliters) Worcestershire sauce

Salt and black pepper

(2.5 milliliters) toasted sesame oil

(12 grams) cornstarch ((optional))

(300 grams) cremini mushrooms (, sliced)

½ (140 grams) medium onion (, sliced (or 1 teaspoon onion powder))

(14 grams) garlic (, minced (or ½ teaspoon garlic powder))

stock stock

(15 milliliters) Worcestershire sauce

unsalted butter or olive oil

(16 grams) all purpose flour

(45 milliliters) water

Mix Ingredients

Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add 1 lb (454g) ground beef, ½ cup (30g) panko breadcrumbs, finely minced onion, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 1 large egg, 1 tbsp (15ml) regular soy sauce, ½ tsp (2.5ml) Worcestershire sauce, ½ tsp (2.5ml) toasted sesame oil (optional), and 1 tbsp (12g) cornstarch (optional). Season with a small pinch of salt and ground black pepper. Fold and mix all the ingredients into the ground beef with your hand. Thoroughly incorporate the ingredients by continuing to turn and knead the ground beef. Pick up the beef mixture and throw it against the large mixing bowl 4 - 5 times to add bounciness.

Test Seasoning &amp; Form Salisbury Beef Patties: Test seasoning by adding some oil to a preheated pan, then cook a small bit of the beef mixture. Taste the cooked beef bite and adjust seasoning by adding more salt if necessary. Firmly shape your Salisbury beef patties.

Brown Salisbury Steak in Instant Pot

Brown Salisbury Steak in Instant Pot: Press &quot;Saute&quot; button to &quot;Sauté More&quot; function to heat up Instant Pot. Wait until it says &quot;HOT&quot; on the screen (~8 mins). Add 3 tbsp (42g) unsalted butter or olive oil in Instant Pot. Ensure the whole bottom is coated with oil. Lightly season one side of the beef patties with kosher salt and black pepper. Place the Salisbury steaks in Instant Pot (seasoned side face down). Lightly season the other side of beef patties with salt and black pepper. Brown each side for 3 minutes. Set aside the browned Salisbury steaks.

Saute Mushrooms &amp; Onion: Add sliced mushrooms in Instant Pot, then saute until lightly brown (~9 - 10 mins). Add in sliced onions, then saute for 4 minutes. Add in minced garlic, then saute for another 30 - 45 seconds until fragrant.

Deglaze Instant Pot

Deglaze Instant Pot: Pour 1 cup (250ml) unsalted chicken stock in Instant Pot, then deglaze by scrubbing all the flavorful brown bits off the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon. Give it a quick mix.

Pressure Cook Salisbury Steak

Pressure Cook Salisbury Steak: Add in 1 tbsp (15ml) regular soy sauce, 1 tbsp (15ml) Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp (15g) dijon mustard. Give it a quick mix. Add the browned Salisbury steaks in Instant Pot. *Pro Tip: Give the Salisburger steaks a few wiggles and try to get them as close to the bottom of the inner pot as possible, and partially submerged in the cooking liquid. Close lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing position. Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 3 minutes + 10 minutes Natural Release. Open the lid. Measure the Salisbury steaks&#039; temperature with a meat thermometer. The temperature should be over 160°F.

Make Salisbury Steak Gravy

Make Salisbury Steak Gravy: With a kitchen tong, place Salisbury steaks on a serving plate. *Note: The gravy will look a bit foamy with the butter. Bring the mushroom gravy to a simmering with the “Saute” function. Mix 2 tbsp (16g) all-purpose flour with 3 tbsp (45ml) water. Mix flour mixture into the gravy one third at a time until your desired thickness. Taste and adjust gravy seasoning with more salt and black pepper if necessary.

Serve

Serve: Drizzle the tasty mushroom gravy on Salisbury steaks, then serve with your favorite side dishes (i.e. mashed potatoes).

Easy Homemade Salisbury Steak

In a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the steaks (except the oil) until combined.

Shape the mixture into 4 equal oval patties, about 3/4-inch thick.

In a large nonstick skillet, warm the olive oil over medium-high heat; add the steaks and cook, about 3 minutes per side until they get a nice golden crust (reducing the heat if they&#039;re browning too much.) Transfer to a plate.

Reduce the heat to medium and in the same skillet with the drippings, add butter. Once melted, add in the flour and whisk until combined and no lumps remain.

Reduce heat to medium-low and pour in the beef stock, whisking well. Add in the ketchup, Worcestershire, onion powder, whisking to combine.

Add in the mushrooms, then simmer for about 5 minutes to thicken. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

Add the partially cooked steaks back to the skillet and nestle into the gravy; cover and cook another 10 minutes until cooked through (with an internal temperature of 160 degrees F.)

Serve steaks over mashed potatoes with some of the mushroom gravy drizzled on top.

Homemade Salisbury Steak Recipe

Lbs. Ground lean beef

Tbsp. Butter (unsalted)

onion

Garlic (minced)

All-purpose flour

Cups Water

Tsp. Ground black pepper

Tbsp. Parley flakes

Tsp. Cumin

½ Tsp. Cayenne pepper (optional)

prepare the meat

In large bowl, use a potato masher to mash the meat. Shape the meat into 6 even patties.

cook the meat and onions

In a large nonstick skillet, add the butter then sliced onions. Cook for 5 minutes on medium-high heat. Spread the onions on the sides, leaving the middle open. Add the meat.  Continue cooking the, until the meat is lightly brown on both sides over medium-high heat. Best to move the onions around or place them on top of the meat as it as it cooks. Reduce the heat if they&#039;re browning too quickly or too much. Transfer the meat to a plate.

Lower the heat to medium-low, using the same skillet with the drippings, add the garlic; stir. Add the flour, stir to combine with the onions, and slowly add the water while whisking so that no lumps linger. Add the salt, pepper, parsley flakes, cumin, cayenne pepper (if using), and Worcestershire sauce. Stir. Then add the meat.

serve and enjoy

Spoon the gravy over the meat with the onions. Cover and cook for 10 minutes or until cooked through or until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. Remove the skillet from the heat. Enjoy mashed potatoes, sweet peas, or potato salad, roasted carrots.
