Camping Recipe: Apple Pie French Toast Rolls

Remove the crust from the bread.

Using a rolling pin, flatten out each piece of bread.

Spread some apple pie filling onto the bread, as much as you can fit in. (approx 2 tbsp)

Roll the bread up tightly and place seam side down while you are making the rest.

Whisk the eggs, milk and vanilla together in a shallow bowl or small pan.

Combine the sugar with the cinnamon on a small plate.

Heat a skillet set over medium heat and melt 2 tbsp of butter.

Take each roll and dip into the egg mixture, coating completely.

Place them in the pan seam side down.

Cook until golden brown, making sure to turn them so they brown on all sides.

Remove the fully cooked rolls from the frying pan and place immediately into the cinnamon sugar and roll until completely covered in sugar.

Serve plain, with syrup or my brown sugar sauce.

Orange Raspberry French Toast Roll-Ups

Place the sugar in a small dish, like a pie plate.  With a citrus zester, zester about 1 1/2 teaspoons of orange zest into the sugar. Mix this together until combined. Set aside

Orange Sugar

Cut the crust from each slice of bread. Then with a rolling pin flatten the slices.

Mix the softened cream cheese with the orange marmalade. Alternately, you can use 1/2 teaspoon of orange zest.

Spread a small strip of the orange cream cheese mixture down the short side of the bread, about 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons. Add a small dollop of cream cheese at the other end of the bread. This will help the rolls stick together.

Place three raspberries on top of the cream cheese and then start rolling the bread over the raspberries to make a tight roll. Place the rolls seam side down in a large dish.

Make the French Toast Rolls

In a blender mix the eggs, milk, flour, and vanilla until combined.  You can also use a wire whisk to blend this mixture.

Pour this mixture over the French toast rolls

Egg Batter

Heat the skillet over medium heat and then melt the butter. Working in batches, place 3-4  rolls in the hot pan and cook on all sides until golden brown for about three minutes. Don&#039;t crowd the pan since you need to flip the rolls over.

Immediately after the rolls are cooked roll in the orange sugar mixture, pressing to coat.

Serve these rolls immediately and enjoy
