Air Fryer French Toast Sticks

bread

Tablespoons butter

vanilla extract

nutmeg

Before preparing your dish, preheat the air fryer to 375F degrees and spray the bottom of the air basket with non-stick cooking spray.

Using a bread knife, slice each piece of bread into thirds. Set aside.

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, butter and vanilla until the mixture is fully blended.

In another small bowl, combine the cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar until well blended. Set aside.

Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture on both sides until the piece is fully coated, but not soggy.

Lightly sprinkle each piece with the sugar mixture before placing it inside the air basket. Leave a little space between sticks. Air needs to circulate around them to cook properly.

Bake the French toast sticks inside the air fryer on 375F degrees for 8 minutes.

When cooking time is complete, the French toast should be light and crispy.

Serve immediately with maple syrup for dipping. If desired, gently sprinkle powdered sugar over the sticks as well.

Made in the air fryer, and topped with zero calorie caramel dip, these French toast sticks only have 41 calories each!

Low Calorie French Toast Sticks

egg whites

whisk egg, egg whites cinnamon, and vanilla in a shallow dish.

Slice three slices of bread, into 3 sticks each (9 total sticks)

Dredge bread sticks into egg mixture until fully saturated.

Arrange bread sticks onto the basket of an air fryer.

Cook at 400 degrees for a total of 8-9 minutes, flipping french toast mid-way.

Top with zero calorie caramel and whipped cream!

Air Fryer French Toast Sticks are a super fun fast way to make breakfast in the morning. Coated in a vanilla and cinnamon egg mixture, these fry up absolutely amazing!

bread Texas toast or French bread

In a small bowl whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla.

Spray the bottom of the basic air fryer with olive oil spray.  Cut the Texas toast into 3 sections.  Dredge into the egg mixture and place in a single layer in the basket.  Sprinkle the tops with brown sugar.

Cook at 360 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until golden.  Serve with syrup and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

You can use any sliced bread that you like. I typically use whole grain or sourdough. You can also bake full slices of bread, then cut into sticks with kitchen scissors. See Notes for allergy-substitutions.

Baked Banana French Toast Sticks

whole grain or sourdough sandwich bread

banana ((about 1/2 cup slices))

Maple syrup ((or yogurt, nut butter or jam to serve, optional))

Preheat oven to 350F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cut each slice of bread into into 4 sticks.

Add the eggs, milk, banana, vanilla, and cinnamon to a blender. Blend until smooth. (Or, skip the blender and mash everything together in a bowl.)

Dip each piece of bread into the batter, letting the excess drip off. Then place onto the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 8 minutes. Flip over and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until lightly golden brown and cooked through.

Serve warm with toppings or dips such as maple syrup, yogurt, nut butter, jam, or warmed frozen fruit.
