A quick and easy version of the Cuban Black beans! I'm sautéing up jalapeños, onions, and garlic and then simmering the beans until they are tender and topping them with cilantro and lime! So, so delicious!

Cuban Black Beans with Cilantro and Lime

Heat the oil in a stockpot or dutch oven over medium-high heat. Sauté the onions and jalapeños for 4-5 minutes or until they turn translucent. Add the garlic and continue to cook for 30 seconds.

Add the black beans, warm water, salt, cumin, and chili powder and bring to a boil. When boiling, reduce the heat so that it simmers. Allow to cook for 10-15 minutes or until most of the water evaporates leaving a thick sort of broth. At this point, if you'd like to thicken the beans a bit more you can remove about ½ - 1 cup of beans and mash them (using a potato masher or a wooden spoon) to make a thick sort of paste but this is optional. Add the beans back into the pot and stir. Top with fresh cilantro and lime juice stir to combine.

These cilantro and cumin seasoned black beans are easy to make and so incredibly flavorful. Enjoy them on their own, in bowls, tacos, burritos, enchiladas or more!

Add the blended seasoning to the beans and bring to a low simmer, if using an Instant Pot cook on the sauté mode on less or normal to achieve this, if using a pot keep it on medium-low or low heat. Let simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring regularly, or until the beans reach the desired consistency. Los frijoles son un platillo que nunca puede faltar en mi mesa. Además, son una buena fuente de proteína. Existen muchos tipos de frijoles pero los frijolitos negros cocinados en la olla son uno de mis platos favoritos. Los puedes acompañar de arroz blanco, comer como una rica sopa, con acelgas y versa, con chorizo o carne de puerco o bien como platillo principal. El día de hoy voy a compartir contigo mi receta especial para hacer frijoles negros de la olla.  ¡A cocinar!

lb de frijoles negros a granel, limpios

a 6 tazas de agua

dientes de ajo

cucharadita de comino

cucharadita de orégano

cucharada de aceite de oliva o aceite de cártamo

cucharada de sal marina gruesa

Comienza  limpiando los frijoles, asegúrate de remover cualquier piedrita o impureza, y lava con agua usando un colador.

Coloca una cazuela o dutch oven en la estufa, agrega los frijoles y cubre con el agua.

Agrega el resto de los ingredientes y cuece con la cazuela tapada por una hora y media o hasta que los frijoles estén suaves.

Con un machacador machaca un poco para darle al caldo una consistencia espesa.

Cuece por otros 20 minutos y sirve caliente como acompañante de arroz blanco.
