Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Add 2 oz. vodka or gin, 3/4 oz....

Add 2 oz. vodka or gin, 3/4 oz. fresh lime juice, and 1/2 oz. simple syrup.

Shake well; strain into coupe glass.

Garnish with a lime wheel.

Prepare simple syrup by placing sugar and water...

Prepare simple syrup by placing sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat.  Bring mixture to a boil. When sugar has dissolved, reduce heat and add blackberries.  Simmer syrup until mixture thickens.  Strain out the berries and allow syrup to cool completely.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the simple syrup, vodka and lime juice; shake.  Pour out the cocktail into glasses filled with ice.

The Gimlet is a classic cocktail comprised of gin, lime and sugar. But what happens when you add a spicy green poblano liqueur to the mix? Well, you get the Ancho Gimlet (ancho simply meaning a poblano that's been dried). It's supplied via Ancho Reyes Verde, the peppery Mexican liqueur that adds notes of roasted poblano to anything it touches.Toss in a little fresh cucumber, and you've got a festive take on the Gimlet that gives the drink a welcome kick without sacrificing refreshment.

Shake all ingredients with ice to chill and dilute.  

Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a coupe.

A classic emerging from the British Royal Navy after the development of Rose&#39;s Lime Cordial, the Gimlet has withstood the test of time.  You can use pretty much any gin you like (or, gasp, even vodka), but if you want your drink to be seaworthy we do recommend you choose a bottle of navy strength gin.

Add all ingredients to your trusty mixing glass.

Add ice and stir to chill.

Strain into pre-chilled cocktail glass.

Drink.

Rinse and repeat.

An easy to assemble lime cordial for use in the classic Gimlet cocktail, this version is substantially better tasting than what you will find in a bottle of Rose&#39;s Sweetened Lime Juice.  It&#39;s also good for more than cocktails - try a bit added to a glass of soda water.

oz Warm water

Limes

oz Citric acid

Wash and dry limes.  Use peeler or microplane to remove the zest of about 4 limes.  If you&#39;re using a peeler try to keep the amount of white pith to a minimum, but a small bit is alright.

Juice limes and pass through a fine strainer.

Warm the water and place in blender.

Add lime zest, sugar, citric acid and 3.5 oz of lime juice to blender.

Blend for about 30 seconds.

Fine strain into bottle and refrigerate.

Make your next gin cocktail with a spoonful of strawberry preserves for the perfect easy take on a cocktail at home. For this Strawberry Gin Jam Cocktail you can avoid making strawberry syrup, and use up some of the fresh citrus that’s in season right now. I loved this combination with gin, but it would work with rum or whiskey, too.

Strawberry Gin Jam Cocktail

½ oz Campari

lemon juice (fresh)

oz grapefruit juice (fresh)

⅛ oz hibiscus syrup

grapefruit garnish with jalapeno sugar (sage leaf)

Combine jam, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, hibiscus syrup, Campari and gin in a cocktail shaker and add ice. Shake 10-12 seconds and double strain into a nick and nora glass or a coupe. Garnish with a dehydrated, infused grapefruit peel and a sage leaf. Let the chip infuse in the cocktail for a few minutes before sipping to get the full effect of the jalapeno sugar in the cocktail.

Simple Meyer Lemon Gimlet

sugar (white, granulated)

oz Gin, Empress 1908 suggested (or Hendricks

oz Meyer Lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

oz simple syrup

Rosemary, fresh (for garnish)

pcs Meyer Lemon zest (for garnish)

In a small sauce pan, combine sugar and water. Heat until almost boiling. Stir until sugar is completely melted. Allow to cool completely before using. Place in jar with lid and keep refrigerated for up to 1 month.

Simple Syrup

In a cocktail shaker, add ice, gin, Meyer lemon juice and simple syrup. Stir until well chilled.

Pour mixture through a strainer into cocktail glasses and garnish with a rosemary sprig and a piece of Meyer Lemon zest. 

Serve immediately.
