Make an alcohol-free version of the classic negroni cocktail, with grape juice and a syrup made from grapefruit, coriander and cardamon pods

Negroni mocktail

½ grapefruit (approx 125 grams)

orange

caster sugar

cardamom pods

coriander seeds

red food colouring

white grape juice

orange (optional)

Chop the grapefruit into small chunks and put them into a saucepan along with the orange slice, sugar, 125ml water, the cardamom pods and coriander seeds. Heat the mixture until simmering and cook for around 5 mins, crushing the fruit pieces with the back of a wooden spoon as it starts to soften to release the juices. Once the fruit has softened and the white pith has faded, take it off the heat and leave to cool. If you like you can add a splash of red food colouring to the syrup at this point.

Once the syrup mixture has cooled, strain it and discard the spices and fruit pieces. Fill a tumbler with ice and pour in 25ml of the syrup, the grape juice and 25ml cold water. Stir gently until the outside of the tumbler feels cold, then garnish with a slice of orange, if you like.

Mix all ingredients in a Magic Bullet type mixer, food processor or blender

Make and can homemade concord grapes the easy way. No blending or mashing. Just delicious fresh colorful grape juice to savor all year long!

Homemade Canning Grape Juice Recipe

Wash and clean grapes. Remove any stems.

Measure out around 2 cups of grapes per quart jar.

Add 1/2 cup of sugar per jar.

Pour boiling water over grapes, to within 1 inch of the top of the jar.

Place new lid and a ring on each jar. Place jars in a water canning bath.

Process in water canning bath for 10 minutes.

Remove jars and cool. Store jars out of direct sunlight for 3-4 weeks.

After jars stand for 3-4 weeks, open jar, strain out grapes and enjoy.

Store open, unused juice in fridge for up to a week.

After I remove the jars, you said to place in pantry or cupboard 3-4 weeks. Does the area for the jars need to be cold or can they sit on my shelf in the kitchen
