Do something different on burger night...go Greek!  These Greek lamb burgers are juicy, flavorful and super easy to make. The secret is in the meat mixture, combining aromatics with spices like oregano, earthy cumin, and paprika, plus a generous does of fresh mint and parsley. Greek Lamb Burgers

lb lamb

red onion, grated

garlic cloves,

parsley

mint leaves, chopped

½ tsp dry oregano

tsp cumin

paprika

½ tsp cayenne pepper, optional

Kosher salt and black pepper

virgin olive oil

Greek pita bread

Homemade Tztaziki sauce

tomatoes

Green bell pepper

cucumbers

Sliced red onions

Pitted Kalamata olives, sliced

feta

Heat an outdoor gas grill on medium for 20 to 30 minutes or so, meanwhile, prepare the meat mixture, pita (or buns) and fixings for the burgers.

Add the ground lamb (or mix of lamb and beef) to a mixing bowl. Add grated onions, garlic, fresh herbs, oregano, cumin, paprika and cayenne. Season with kosher salt and pepper. Add a generous drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and mix until everything is well combined.

Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal balls. Using both hands, work meat into smooth spheres, then lightly press to form into patties. Arrange the patties on a large tray or dish, and with the tip of your thumb, press lightly to form a shallow, somewhat wide, depression into the center of each patty. (see cook's tip #2 below) Cover and refrigerate until grill is ready.

Lightly oil grill grates and arrange the burger patties on top. Grill over medium heat, covered, for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, turning once midway through cooking (internal temperature for a medium burger should register 160 degrees F. Adjust cooking time according to your desired doneness.)

Allow the lamb burgers to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Serve in pita (or buns), with tztaziki sauce, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions. If you like add kalamata olives and a sprinkle of feta.

Can I just say these were the best burgers I have ever eaten?  I didn't have any yogurt to make the Tztaziki sauce so I used your recipe for Tahini Sauce and it was delicious.  We didn't have pita but used a wonderful loaf of sourdough.  I loved the toppings and the flavor of the meat; so juicy.  I just love how much parsley is used so much in mediterranean cooking;  Thank you so much.

This was a really fantastic recipe! I made some small modifications but used yor flavor profile and our lamb burgers were REALLY GOOD. We don't combine dairy and meat so I made a lemon-garlic-mint aioli (using store bought mayo) to speard on the buns, and then a cucumber/kalamada olive/shallot mix to be the crunch on the burger. My family loved this and it iwll now go into regular rotation!

Healthy Greek Turkey Burgers with Tzatziki

turkey

garlic,

red onion, diced small

spinach,

oregano

tsp salt

tsp pepper

In a bowl, combine all burger ingredients. Use your hands to mix!

Form into patties, I used about 1/3 &#8211; 1/2 cup of meat for each.

Heat a large cast-iron or nonstick skillet with 2 tbsp avocado oil over medium heat, and once hot, add burgers.

Cook for 5 minutes, flip, then turn the heat to medium low. Cover for the next 5 minutes so the inside cooks. Repeat until all burgers are cooked.

After burgers have cooked, prepare tzatziki sauce according to this recipe.

Serve with onion, tomato, buns, or over lettuce! Enjoy!

Ultimate Greek Burgers

red onion

pine nuts

sun-dried tomatoes

Greek Seasoning

Tzatziki Sauce

hamburger buns (, lightly toasted)

Combine the meat, red onion, parsley, pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, feta cheese, salt and Greek seasoning in a mixing bowl. Work with your fingers until the mixture is thoroughly combined. Form into 4 patties. Grill or pan fry over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or according to desired doneness (is using poultry or pork, make sure it&#39;s thoroughly cooked through).  If you&#39;re cooking them on the stovetop, I like to use the Lodge Cast Iron Grill Pan to get those pretty grill marks.

Arrange some arugula leaves on the bottoms of each hamburger bun and place the patties on top. Top with tomatoes, red onions, tzatziki sauce, and crumbled feta cheese. Place the top bun on each burger and serve immediately with extra tzatziki sauce.

OMG! These were amazing! We couldn't get the pine nuts but honestly didn't miss them. The flavors were amazing, and we are still dreaming about them a few days later...thank you for the recipe!
