This Japanese hamburger steak is so irresistibly tender and and juicy with scrumptious flavors that will have you craving for more. Paired with homemade demi-glace sauce, this easy hambagu is the perfect dish to add your dinner rotation.

Melt-In-Your-Mouth Japanese Hamburger Steak

tbsp cooking oil (divided)

beef (mixed with pork if desired)

panko breadcrumbs

milk

onion

garlic (minced)

tbsp ketchup

tbsp worcestershire sauce

tsp salt

tsp black pepper

butter

tbsp all purpose flour

mirin

tbsp sugar

soy sauce

water

Combine panko breadcrumbs and milk in a small bowl. Set aside while preparing the other ingredients.

Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and add onion. Lightly season with salt and sauté for 2-3 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Set aside to cool completely.

In a large mixing bowl, add ground beef, soaked breadcrumbs, sautéed onions, garlic, egg, ketchup, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Mix with your hands until evenly combined.

Scoop a portion of the meat and toss back and forth between your hands before forming into a tight patty.

Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Place the patties on the pan, indent the center, and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side. Serve with demi-glace sauce and enjoy!

Melt butter in a saucepan. Add flour and stir around to cook until the mixture turns light brown. Add mirin, sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, and water, and mix to combine. Cook for about 2 minutes until the sauce is thickened.

One of my favorite comfort foods is hamburger steak with onion gravy, It&#39;s so simple, but it&#39;s always so satisfying. I usually make it when I&#39;m feeling a bit down, because it always makes me feel better.

lbs. Ground beef

C. Bread crumbs

Large eggs

Tbsp. Parsley flakes

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Worcestershire sauce

Onion thinly sliced

Tbsp. Olive oil

Tbsp. All purpose flour

C. Beef broth

Salt and pepper

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, eggs, parsley flakes, onion powder, garlic powder, worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper to taste. Mix with your hands to combine thoroughly.

Form the meat mixture into 8 even sized patties.

Heat a skillet over medium high heat on the stove, and cook the patties until done to your liking. Remove and keep warm.

In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

Add the onions to the heated skillet and cook until softened.

Stir the flour in with the onions and saute for another 30 seconds.

Whisk the beef broth in with the onions and continue to simmer until the mixture has thickened into a gravy.

Return the meat to the skillet and cover with the gravy. Simmer for another 5-10 minutes before serving.

low-sodium beef broth

tomato paste (OR ketchup)

beef bouillon base (such as organic Better Than Bouillon) (optional)

butter (DIVIDED)

all-purpose flour

In a large bowl, thoroughly combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, parsley, 1/2 teaspoon mustard, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and black pepper. Form into 8 equally-sized balls and flatten into patties. Set aside.

Pour beef broth into a large measuring cup. Whisk in the tomato paste, remaining 1/2 teaspoon mustard, beef bouillon base, and remaining Worcestershire sauce until smooth. Set aside.

Heat a large, deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon butter to pan and swirl to coat. Add the beef patties, cook 3 to 4 minutes on first side until well-browned, and flip, taking care to scrape the browned bits from the bottom of the pan when you flip. Cook patties for 3 minutes on the second side or until the ground beef is cooked through in the center. Remove the patties to a paper-towel lined plate, cover to keep warm, and set aside.

Drain the grease from the pan and add the remaining 3 tablespoons butter to the pan. Melt and swirl the butter over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and sauté for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally and scraping/deglazing the bottom of the pan. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and continuously stir while cooking for 1 more minute.

Gradually stir in the broth mixture. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 to 3 minutes or until the gravy has thickened to your desired consistency. Reduce the heat, add the cooked beef patties back to the pan, and submerge in the gravy. Cook for another couple of minutes until they are heated through.

Hamburger Steak

½ pounds 80/20 ground beef

salt

black pepper (divided)

garlic powder

onion powder

Dijon mustard

neutral oil

unsalted butter

yellow onion (sliced thinly)

thyme leaves

beef broth

chicken stock

In a medium bowl, mix together beef, 1 ½ teaspoons salt, ½ teaspoon pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, garlic, and Dijon mustard. Do not overmix. Divide into 10 small patties. Set aside.

In a measuring cup, mix together beef broth, chicken stock, and Worcestershire sauce.

In a large skillet, add oil and heat over medium-high heat. Add in patties and cook until seared on one side, about 2-3 minutes. Flip patties and continue cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes. Remove from pan and set on a plate. Discard oil.

Add butter and sliced onions in pan. Add ½ teaspoon salt. Cook until onions are tender and just beginning to caramelize, about 8-10 minutes. Add in thyme and flour and cook for 1 minute.

Slowly whisk in broth mixture. (It will look like a paste, and bubble.) Keep whisking and adding in broth until it’s all been added. Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium to simmer.

Return patties and any juices that collected to the gravy. Continue cooking for 5-6 minutes until patties are cooked through and gravy has thickened. Taste for seasoning and adjust.

Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes.

This was very good you did that and the measurements were on point I like how you include Worcestershire sauce in your gravies I use to only start out with butter and flour and added water as the liquid the stocks/broths really make a difference thanks for sharing these awesome recipes
