Drain the grease from the pan and add the remaining 3 tablespoons butter to the pan. Melt and swirl the butter over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and sauté for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally and scraping/deglazing the bottom of the pan. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Sprinkle the flour over the mushroom mixture and continuously stir while cooking for 1 more minute.

Gradually stir in the broth mixture. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 to 3 minutes or until the gravy has thickened to your desired consistency. Reduce the heat, add the cooked beef patties back to the pan, and submerge in the gravy. Cook for another couple of minutes until they are heated through.

Hamburger Steak with Mushroom Gravy is a classic, comforting, quick and easy dinner recipe of mini Salisbury steaks in a rich, savory, gravy loaded with fresh mushrooms!

This hamburger steak is packed with flavor!! Ground beef seasoned with all the spices, simmerin' in a beef gravy with onions... need I say more?!

Dijon mustard

neutral oil

unsalted butter

yellow onion (sliced thinly)

thyme leaves

In a medium bowl, mix together beef, 1 ½ teaspoons salt, ½ teaspoon pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, garlic, and Dijon mustard. Do not overmix. Divide into 10 small patties. Set aside.

In a measuring cup, mix together beef broth, chicken stock, and Worcestershire sauce.

In a large skillet, add oil and heat over medium-high heat. Add in patties and cook until seared on one side, about 2-3 minutes. Flip patties and continue cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes. Remove from pan and set on a plate. Discard oil.

Add butter and sliced onions in pan. Add ½ teaspoon salt. Cook until onions are tender and just beginning to caramelize, about 8-10 minutes. Add in thyme and flour and cook for 1 minute.

Slowly whisk in broth mixture. (It will look like a paste, and bubble.) Keep whisking and adding in broth until it’s all been added. Bring to a boil, then reduce to medium to simmer.

Return patties and any juices that collected to the gravy. Continue cooking for 5-6 minutes until patties are cooked through and gravy has thickened. Taste for seasoning and adjust.

Serve hot over rice or mashed potatoes.

This was very good you did that and the measurements were on point I like how you include Worcestershire sauce in your gravies I use to only start out with butter and flour and added water as the liquid the stocks/broths really make a difference thanks for sharing these awesome recipes

Easy to make and ready in 30 minutes. Juicy ground beef patties seared until golden brown and simmered in a divine dill cream sauce. Serve with mashed potatoes for a perfect quick-yet-satisfying dinner. It's comfort food at its best!

Good flavor, but needed an acid to balance it. Ended up dousing it in Worcestershire at the table. The recipe also doesn’t make sense in some parts. I cooked the beef patties for 5 mins on each side, then cooked in the sauce for 10 mins or so and they were still a bit pink and the bottom of the pan was burning. I ended up microwaving them a bit before serving :| not the most graceful recipe execution. I only used 1lb of meat and thought the patties were too big. Also this took me about an hour. I’m certainly not a novice cook, but maybe there was a nuance that I missed.

This was super delicious! Will definitely make again the dill gives a really nice brightness to the sauce. My only note for those cooking in one pan make sure to clean out any bits from the burgers that are too dark as it will make your gravy darker, and check for salt before adding the beef back in.

Delicious. The patties were so moist. This will be on repeat in my house

Absolutely delicious. Recipe as written is delicious, but I recommend adding a little Dijon mustard.

I’ve made these twice now & they’re a hit with the family! I’ve reduced the salt to 1/2 tsp in both the patties & the sauce. For the sauce I deglaze the pan with a 1/4 cup of white wine after adding the flour & before adding the broth. Fantastic served over rice!

Great recipe! I pretty much followed the recipe but added fresh mushrooms with the onions and garlic mostly because I had them and they needed to be used. I will definitely make this again!

These were such a good comfort meal! Loved it with mashed potatoes on a cold winter or fall day!

Delicioso!! Una nueva manera de comer hamburguesas, la salsa inigualable 👌🏻👌🏻
