Fried Tequila Shots Will Definitely Get Your Squad Turned Up

Easy to make spam, eggs and rice – a Hawaiian-inspired breakfast that is filling and delicious. A quick and easy recipe made with pantry ingredients.

Easy Spam Eggs and Rice

white rice

spam (12 oz/ 350 g)

soy sauce

fish sauce

rice vinegar

sugar

garlic powder

eggs

full-fat milk

butter

salt

Cook rice

Cook rice: Wash the rice in a sieve. Bring water to a boil, add some salt and the rice and simmer the rice according to the sort you are using and the package instructions (Note 1).

Marinate spam

Marinate spam: Mix soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, and garlic powder in a bowl. Cut the spam into cubes, add them to the bowl, and stir to coat all over. Leave to marinate for 5 to 10 minutes (Note 2).

Cook spam

Cook meat: Heat the vegetable oil in a pan. Lift the meat from the marinade using a slotted spoon. Don’t discard the marinade! Fry meat on medium heat for 2-3 minutes, often stirring, until the cubes are slightly crispy.

Caramelize spam

Caramelize spam: Pour the reserved marinade into the pan and stir the spam for another 2 minutes or until the cubes are glossy and coated with the sauce.

Pan: You will need another pan for cooking the eggs; the one you used before will be too sticky to use again without washing.

Whisk eggs

Whisk the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in another bowl.

Cook eggs

Cook eggs: Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large pan. Turn down the heat to medium-low and add the beaten eggs. Leave untouched for 15-20 seconds or until lightly set at the bottom. Use a spatula to move the mixture around the pan and cook the eggs evenly into large folds. Move around gently for another 2 minutes or so until the eggs are mostly set. They will continue cooking slightly after you’ve turned off the heat.

Serve

Serve: Arrange the ingredients on a large warm plate and serve immediately.

Loco moco is a delicious Hawaiian dish made with steamed rice topped with a juicy hamburger patty, brown gravy, and a fried egg. It&#039;s quick and easy Hawaiian comfort food that&#039;s satisfying and filling!

Loco Moco

green onions (chopped)

ground beef (See Note 1)

onion (finely diced; See Note 2)

panko bread crumbs

Tablespoons milk

garlic (minced)

beef stock

cornstarch

ketchup

sugar (to taste)

Worcestershire sauce

sea salt (to taste)

Prep gravy

Prep gravy: In a medium bowl, add the beef stock, cornstarch, soy sauce, ketchup, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and salt. Mix to combine and set aside. See Note 3.

Mix burger patties

Mix burger patties: Mix together the ground beef, diced onions, panko bread crumbs, milk, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Divide and form into four patties. Lightly apply oil to hands for easier forming.

Fry burgers

Fry burgers: In a lightly greased nonstick pan, cook burgers over medium high heat until fully cooked, about 3 to 4 minutes per side. Remove burgers and reduce heat to medium low.

Make gravy

Gravy: Stir the gravy mixture as the cornstarch can settle then add it to the pan. Keep stirring until it comes to a boil and thickens, about 1 to 2 minutes. See Note 4.

Fry egg

Fry eggs: Fry eggs to your liking - sunny side up, over medium, or over easy.

Assemble and serve

Assemble: Add steamed rice to a bowl, top with a burger patty, pour a generous amount of gravy on top, then top with a fried egg. Garnish with green onions and serve.

Sushi rice

Slice the Spam

into 8 equal pieces. The best way to ensure even slices is to cut it in half (2 pieces), then cut each half in half again (now you have 4 pieces), and finally cut each of those in half one more time to make 8 even slices. They are now the perfect thickness for musubi.

Air fry

No need to spray oil into the air fryer. Air fry at 400°F for 15 minutes, until golden and crispy. I didn&#8217;t need to flip in my air fryer and I still got a great crust on both sides. However, give it a check at the half way mark and flip if you think it&#8217;s needed.

Make the sweet soy glaze

In a small bowl, combine light soy sauce, sugar and sesame oil. Brush sauce onto cooked Spam slices and set aside.

Cook the Eggs

Crack eggs into a bowl, add chopped green onions (if using), and season with salt and pepper. Whisk well. Heat a bit of oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat, then pour in the eggs. Gently stir and push the eggs around so the uncooked parts flow into the empty spots in the pan. Cook until the eggs are just set. Divide into 8 equal portions. Set aside.

Cut the Nori

Stack the sheets together and fold it into thirds along the long side, then either tear gently along the fold or use scissors for a more precise cut. You will have 9 pieces, but we only need 8. Save the last sheet in case of tearing. If not needed at the end, enjoy it as a well deserved snack.

Assemble

Divide rice into 8 equal portions. Prepare a small bowl of water to dip your fingers in. This helps keep the rice from sticking to your hands. When assembling the musubi, I like to build it top-down with nori first, then spam, egg, furikake (if using), rice, and more furikake. Remove mold, fold nori over and wet edge with water to seal. Repeat until you have all 8 done. Picture tutorial below:
