This easy homemade and healthy BBQ sauce comes together quickly and easily in one pot. Perfect to stir into pulled pork, add to meatloaves or use as a dip. Made with no added artificial sugar, it&#039;s paleo and vegan and ready to use in less than 30 minutes.

Healthy BBQ Sauce

tomato sauce ((in the can))

tomato paste

garlic

maple syrup

apple cider vinegar

tsp tamari sauce or coconut aminos

Dijon mustard

onion powder

tsp chili powder

tsp smoked paprika

tsp salt

tsp ground pepper

cayenne pepper

cinnamon

Place a medium sized saucepan over medium high heat.

Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, garlic, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, tamari and mustard to the pan. Stir to combine.

Add in spices including the onion powder, chili powder, paprika, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper and cinnamon. Stir to combine.

Allow mixture to come to a simmer over medium-low heat and cook for about 12-15 minutes, stirring frequently. Monitor it carefully because if the heat is too high, the mixture will start to boil and splatter.

Use immediately or store in the fridge for later use.

Add oil to a medium sized saucepan and heat over medium heat. Add garlic and onion and sauté until fragrant, about 5 minutes. Make sure to stir the mixture frequently and watch the garlic because it can burn easily.

Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, maple syrup, molasses, apple cider vinegar, tamari and mustard into the pan. Stir to combine.

Add in seasonings and spices: salt, paprika, cayenne pepper, chili powder, ground pepper and cinnamon. Stir to combine.

Tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Tablespoon molasses

smoked paprika

tamari (GF) or soy sauce

fine sea salt

black pepper

cayenne pepper, optional

Preheat a saute pan over medium heat. Cook the chopped onion for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Allow some color and caramelization to develop in the pan. You&#x27;ll deglaze with water and other ingredients in a few minutes.

Once the onion is golden, add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly so the garlic doesn&#x27;t burn. Deglaze the pan with 1/4 cup of water.

Add the remaining ingredients - tomato sauce, 1/2 cup water, apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, molasses, smoked paprika, chili powder, cayenne, black pepper, salt, tamari, and liquid smoke, if using. Stir to combine. Bring to a simmer, and cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until slightly reduced.

Remove from heat and let cool 15 minutes. Transfer to a blender, and blend until smooth. Pour into a jar, and allow to cool. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

In a small saucepan, add water, tomato paste, applesauce, molasses, apple cider vinegar, honey, onion and garlic powders, mustard, liquid smoke, salt and cayenne pepper. Whisk until well combined.

Bring to a boil, cover half way with a lid to prevent splashing and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir a few times to prevent burning on the bottom.

Let cool and transfer to a glass jar. Use as you would use a store bought BBQ sauce or when making Instant Pot ribs.
