Healthy French toast is a simple breakfast recipe with just six ingredients. easily made gluten-free and dairy-free! Make a double batch and flash freeze it for a quick family-friendly busy weekday breakfast.

Healthy French Toast

bread ((whole grain, gluten-free, or sourdough))

eggs

milk of choice

vanilla

cinnamon

tbsp butter ((coconut oil

Melt butter or coconut oil a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.

Gently dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture. Flip the bread and lightly press, ensuring the bread absorbs the egg mixture. Place on the hot griddle or pan.

Cook for 3-4 minutes, carefully flip, then cook the other side an additional 3-4 minutes.

Remove from pan. Serve and enjoy with your favorite French toast toppings (fruit, yogurt, butter, real maple syrup, etc.)

TO FREEZE: Place cooked French toast slices on a wire baking rack or a baking sheet in a single layer (no overlap, no slices touching). Place in the freezer for one hour to flash freeze, then transfer to an airtight, freezer-safe bag or storage container. Be sure to label with the date! Return to freezer and eat within 3 months. To reheat, I recommend placing one or two slices in a toaster on the &quot;frozen toast&quot; setting, then enjoying as usual.

Cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

Tbsp Chocolate protein powder *

Cocoa powder

tsp Vanilla extract ((I use a pinch of stevia))

peanut butter

Tbsp Mini chocolate chips

In a large baking dish, stir together the egg whites, protein powder, cocoa powder, almond milk, vanilla extract and sweeten to taste.

Place the bread in the egg mixture and let soak for 10 minutes. Flip and let the bread soak another 10 minutes.

Once the bread is ready, spray a griddle (or large pan) with cooking spray and heat to medium heat.

Cook the bread until lightly golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Pop the peanut butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds-1 minute until smooth and melted.

Pour the peanut butter over the french toast and garnish with chocolate chips and DEVOUR.

Banana Berry Baked French Toast

tbsp honey or maple syrup

tsp vanilla extract

cinnamon (plus extra for dusting)

bananas

butter or olive oil (for greasing baking dish)

Greek yoghurt (to serve)

honey or maple syrup (to serve)

This recipe is best started the day/night before, to allow for the bread to completely soak up the egg mixture.

Lightly grease a large baking dish (pictured in a rectangular baking dish measuring approximately 32cm x 22.5cm). Scatter 1 cup of the frozen berries across the base of the dish.

Slice the bread into triangular quarters and lay them evenly across the dish, overlapping them slightly.

Slice the bananas into rounds and tuck the banana slices in between the bread. Scatter the remaining cup of berries over the dish.

Whisk together the eggs, milk, honey/maple syrup, vanilla and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Pour the mixture evenly over the baking dish. Very gently, press the bread into the liquid to help it soak in.

Cover the dish and place in the fridge, and ideally let it sit overnight. (You can speed up the soaking process a little by more aggressively pressing the bread down into the egg mixture. Try to let the mixture soak for 2 hours at least).

Preheat the oven to 180 C. When the dish is ready, sprinkle over a little extra cinnamon and bake for approximately 35 minutes, or until the bread on top is starting to brown and crisp up at the edges.

Serve warm with a dollop of Greek yoghurt and a drizzle of honey/maple syrup, if desired.

In a large, shallow bowl, use a fork or whisk to combine milk, eggs, and cinnamon and vanilla (if using).

Place the bread slices one (or two, depending on the size of your bowl) at a time into the egg mixture, letting the mixture soak for a few seconds. Flip the bread to soak the other side. If required, slowly add 2 tablespoons more milk to the mixture if it looks like you won&#39;t have enough for 8 slices.

Spray a large skillet or griddle with cooking oil, or add a small amount of butter or coconut oil into the pan. Heat the pan on medium heat.

Add the soaked slices of bread to the pan, then cook for 2-4 minutes on each side, until slightly golden.

Add toppings of choice and enjoy!

Great basic recipe to use. I usually add cinnamon, vanilla extract, and some flax and chia seeds to the batter to boost the nutrition for my kids
