This homemade hummus for babies and toddlers is the perfect easy and inexpensive recipe for a healthy meal or snack.  Great for baby-led weaning as well!

Homemade Hummus for Baby

beans

tahini

water

garlic powder

tsp cumin

lemon, juiced

Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend until nice and smooth. I usually do half the lemon first, taste test, then decide if I&#x27;ll add the juice of the second half.  My son likes it pretty lemony though, so I usually end up adding the whole thing!

A vibrantly pink, slightly sweet and deliciously healthy beet hummus, very easily made by placing all ingredients in the bowl of a food processor.

Beet Hummus

beet (peeled and chopped)

chickpeas (drained)

lemon

garlic (chopped)

olive oil

cumin (or more to taste)

salt

handfull chopped herbs

Combine the chickpeas, tahini, beet, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, and salt in the bowl of a food processor.

With the motor running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil and blend until smooth.

Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin or salt as needed. I like mine extra garlicky and lemony!

Serve in a bowl and sprinkle parsley, za’atar, lemon zest, nuts, big salt flakes or anything else your heart desires. I think swirls of olive oil look dreamy in the dish and taste fantastic. See my pics for different topping options are omit toppings all together.

Roasted beet hummus with pita chips is a healthy appetizer. The beautiful red beets, earthy spices, and fresh lemon juice make this dip irresistible!

Roasted Beet Hummus

garlic (peeled)

beets

chickpeas (drained (1 can))

lemon juice

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

black pepper

walnuts

chives (chopped for garnish)

lemon peel (grated, for garnish)

Preheat oven to 400°F.

In a bowl, toss garlic and beets with some olive oil, salt, and pepper, just to coat.

Transfer to a foil-lined baking sheet, spreading in a single layer. Roast until tender, about 10 minutes.

In a food processor or blender, add chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini, paprika, ¼ teaspoon salt, and 4 tablespoons olive oil. Puree until chunky but smooth.

When beets and garlic are cool enough to handle, add them to the mixture and puree until smooth, leaving the mixture a little chunky if preferred.

Season with salt and pepper to taste. Top hummus with chopped walnuts, chives, and lemon peel.

This is awesome. I actually followed the recipe (rare for me) but did not add dill. Added a lot more olive oil to make it more creamy. Can't wait to try it with all the toppings but it's for a party tomorrow so will have to wait!

very good. I added more lemon juice and used the liquid I drained from the chick peas instead of the water. The dill definitely makes this a Greek inspired appetizer.

A very easy-to-make and deliciously healthy carrot hummus that’s easily adaptable to ever color of the carrot rainbow! Simply mix all ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth!

Carrot Hummus

garbanzo beans (drained)

carrots (steamed & chopped)

cumin (or more, to taste)

Combine the garbanzo beans, tahini, carrots, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, cumin, and salt in a food processor or blender.

Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, adding more olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin or salt if necessary.

Avocado Hummus

white beans (drained and rinsed (Great Northern, cannellini, etc.)

cumin (use less if you aren't a big fan)

chili powder

garlic cloves, minced

jalapeno slices (9 grams)

(45 grams) fresh lime juice

(15 grams) hot water

(40 grams) runny/drippy roasted tahini

(240 grams) sliced avocado (1 1/2 large avocado)

spinach

Add all of the ingredients to a food processor and process for several minutes, scraping the sides during a couple of times. Process until completely smooth. The longer you run it, the smoother it will be.

Taste and add any extra salt or jalapenos if desired. This hummus is a beige/very light touch of green, so add the optional spinach if you desire a bolder green as in the photos. This is not for taste, but for presentation only. Garnish with extra jalapeno slices and fresh limes for serving. This hummus is delicious with chips, on toast or in tacos/burritos.
