This Giant Turkey Meatball isn't your regular meatball, is HUGE, baked in the oven similar to how you would make a meatloaf, then topped with marinara and melted cheese – I'm OBSESSED!

Giant Turkey Meatball Parmesan

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

In a medium bowl combine turkey, breadcrumbs, pecorino, egg, garlic, tomato paste, parsley and salt and gently mix to combine. Form into an oval loaf using your hands, slightly flattened at the top on a nonstick baking sheet. Bake uncovered 50 to 55 minutes, or until it's cooked in the center and the internal temperature of 160 °F with a thermometer. Remove from oven, top with marinara and cheese and bake 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce is hot and the cheese is melted.

Slice in 8 equal pieces. Serve with more warmed sauce on the side if desired.

How To Make a Giant Baked Turkey Meatball

These sweet and spicy meatballs are made with ground turkey, cherry peppers and bacon (because who doesn't love bacon!) Topped with a BBQ glaze, they are perfect for weekend gatherings, football appetizers or anytime you want finger foods.

Sweet 'n Spicy BBQ Turkey Meatballs with Bacon

turkey

bacon (4 ounces, roughly chopped)

onion (quartered)

garlic

cherry peppers (I like Trader Joe’s)

basil leaves

thyme

whole wheat panko (or gluten-free panko)

pepper (to taste)

sweet BBQ sauce

ketchup

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

For glaze: In a small bowl, combine barbeque sauce and ketchup. Set aside.

For meatballs: In a food processor fitted with the metal blade, combine bacon, onion, garlic, cherry peppers, basil and thyme. Pulse until combined and uniform in color and texture, about 10 pulses.

In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, egg, panko, salt and pepper.

Add bacon-cherry pepper mixture to bowl and mix until thoroughly combined. Using your hands, form small round meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.

Place the meatballs on a large baking sheet lined with parchment and with a pastry or silicone brush, lightly brush the meatballs with the barbeque-ketchup mixture.

Bake for 12 minutes and then adjust oven to broil. Broil for an additional 4 to 5 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through and browned.

For an easy, healthy weeknight dinner, it doesn&#039;t get better than these Greek turkey meatballs. Ground turkey is mixed with our homemade Greek vinaigrette and breadcrumbs, then baked or broiled (your choice!) until golden brown. Serve with your favorite Greek salad toppings, such as Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, feta cheese, Kalamata olives, pepperoncini, and our epic homemade pita chips.

Greek Turkey Meatballs

Make the Greek vinaigrette. Combine ½ cup extra virgin olive oil, ¼ cup red wine vinegar, 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice, 2 finely chopped garlic cloves, ½ tsp dried oregano, ½ tsp sugar, ½ tsp Kosher salt, ¼ tsp black pepper, and 2 Tbsp feta cheese in a large measuring cup. Whisk to thoroughly combine.

Season the turkey. Place ground turkey in a large mixing bowl, then add ½ cup breadcrumbs, 1 ½ tsp Kosher salt, and 6 Tbsp of the Greek vinaigrette. Use your hands to mix well.

Chill the meatball mixture. Cover ground turkey mixture with plastic wrap, then refrigerate for an hour. (If you skip this step, the meatballs will be harder to form given the oil in the dressing.) Meanwhile, bake the pita chips.

Make the pita chips. Preheat oven to 450F. Take 4 fluffy pita, then slice them in half. Cut each half into 3 or 4 wedges, depending on how large you want the pita chips to be. Place the pita wedges onto a parchment-lined rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with 3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil, 1 tsp onion salt, and ½ tsp dried oregano.

Bake the chips. Place in a preheated oven and cook for 7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. If using a thinner pita bread, check them after 5 minutes so they don&#39;t burn.

Form the meatballs. Either preheat oven to 450F (it will already be this temp if you made pita chips) or set the broiler to high. Use a standard medium 1 ½&quot; diameter cookie scoop to evenly portion the meatballs (heaping scoops!), then place on a rimmed baking sheet. Gently roll each meatball into a uniform round ball. 2 lbs of ground turkey should yield 24 meatballs.

Bake the meatballs. If baking, place meatballs in a preheated oven and cook for 12-14 minutes, or until an internal temperature of 165F is reached. If broiling, make sure rack is directly under by the broiler by about 3&quot;. Cook for 12 minutes, flipping the meatballs once halfway through.

Serve with Greek salad. Assemble Greek salad using our favorite toppings (our recommendations are below!), then place the Geek turkey meatballs on top and drizzle with extra salad dressing. Serve immediately!

Healthy turkey meatballs simmered in a delicious, homemade spicy tomato basil sauce with creamy burrata cheese. These one pan homemade juicy turkey meatballs in sauce are savory, spicy, creamy and make a delicious weeknight dinner with your favorite pasta or even spaghetti squash!

Healthy Turkey Meatballs in Tomato Basil Sauce with Burrata

For the meatballs:

panko breadcrumbs (or if GF sub 2-3 tablespoons coconut flour)

dijon mustard

italian seasoning (or sub dried oregano)

cumin

garlic powder

cayenne pepper

black pepper

For the sauce:

basil leaves, julienned

red pepper flakes,

Burrata cheese (or sub fresh mozzarella), cut into large pieces

In a large bowl, use your hands to combine the turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, basil, dijon mustard, italian seasoning, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne and salt and pepper. Mix together until well combined and roll into 16 golf ball sized meatballs.

Place a large skillet over medium high heat and add in olive oil. Add meatballs and brown on add sides; this should take about 5 minutes. You don&#039;t need to cook them all the way through.

Once meatballs have browned on all sides, reduce heat to medium low and add your tomato sauce. Spoon the tomato sauce generously over the meatballs. Bring to a simmer, cover with a lid and cook for 10-15 minutes while you make your pasta (if making).

After about 10 minutes, add the basil and burrata in the tomato sauce and/or over the meatballs; cover and continue cooking for 5 more minutes or until the cheese has melted into the sauce.

Serve meatballs over grain or pasta of choice. Would also be great over spaghetti squash. Serves 4.
