Easy Vegan Churro Recipe

To begin, bring the water, salt, and ¼ cup vegetable oil to a low boil in a medium saucepan. Once boiling, remove the mixture from heat and pour into a mixing bowl with the flour. Stir until well-combined, then let the dough cool for about 15 minutes.

In the meantime, make the cinnamon sugar coating by combining the sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl or plate. Set aside.

Once it has cooled, transfer the dough to a piping bag with a large star-tip attachment. Then, bring 5-6 cups of vegetable oil (enough to fully submerge the churros) to 350-375°F in a deep pot.

It&#039;s ideal to use a thermometer when working with oil. If you don&#039;t have one, test if the oil is ready by dropping a small piece of dough in. If it sizzles and floats to the top, then you should be good to go.

Squeeze 2-3 pieces of dough out at a time over the pot of oil (around 4-6 inches long). Cut each piece with a pair of scissors or a knife. Note: don&#039;t cook more than 3 at a time since the oil temperature will drop too much.

Fry the churros until golden brown, about 2-4 minutes per batch. Using a slotted spoon, remove each one from the oil onto a paper towel-lined plate. Leave them for about 30-60 seconds before rolling in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

To make the chocolate sauce, melt the chocolate, coconut milk, cinnamon, and vanilla together in a double boiler over low heat. Stir constantly until the chocolate has melted, then transfer to a serving dish.

Alternatively, you can microwave the chocolate sauce ingredients in a heat-safe bowl for 10-15 second increments. Be careful to stop and stir frequently as it&#039;s easier to burn the chocolate in the microwave.

Serve the churros while warm with a side of chocolate sauce for a crispy, Mexican-style treat!

Homemade Churros are classic and super delicious Mexican fritters. These heart shaped churros are deep fried dough that is crispy-crunchy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. This homemade churros is very easy to make in less than 30 minutes with just 6 ingredients.

In a plate add the sugar and cinnamon and give a good mix. keep it aside.

To make the cinnamon sugar

In a large saucepan place butter, sugar, water, cinnamon on medium-high heat and bring it to a boil.

Once it comes to a boil reduce heat to medium-low and add the flour slowly and stir it constantly with a spatula.

Stir it until the pastry dough comes together and it is smooth with no lumps.

Now transfer it in a large bowl and let it cool for 5-6 minutes or until warm to touch.

Meanwhile heat oil for frying in skillet over medium heat. The oil is of right temperature when a small piece of churro dough when dropped into oil comes up immediately.

Then break in one egg at a time and with an electric hand whisk, mix it allowing to incorporate the egg before adding the next one.

Blend until mixture comes together and is smooth (it will separate at first but keep mixing it will come together).

Now spoon the dough into pastry bag fitted with star tip. (I used wilton 1M)

To make the star shaped churro, squeeze a heart shaped dough on a parchment paper.

Then slowly lift it with a flat spatula and drop it in the hot oil. or carefully pipe the mixture into preheated oil, into about 5 to 6inch lengths, cut end with scissors. DO not over crowd the pan.

Let them fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Transfer it to paper towels for a minute.

Then transfer them cinnamon sugar mixture and roll them so they are evenly coat.

Serve them hot with chocolate sauce or caramel.

Air Fryer Churros fried to golden perfection make a delicious dessert for your next Mexican-themed party!

Air Fryer Churros

water

unsalted butter

Tbsp sugar

all-purpose flour

Put a silicone baking mat on a baking sheet and spray with oil spray.

In a medium saucepan add water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Reduce heat to medium-low and add flour to the saucepan. Stirring constantly with a rubber spatula cook until the dough comes together and is smooth.

Remove from heat and transfer the dough to a mixing bowl. Let cool for 4 minutes.

Add eggs and vanilla extract to the mixing bowl and mix using an electric hand mixer or stand mixer until dough comes together. The mixture will look like gluey mashed potatoes. Use your hands to press lumps together into a ball and transfer to a large piping bag fitted with a large star-shaped tip.

Pipe churros onto the greased baking mat, into 4-inch lengths and cut end with scissors.

Refrigerate piped churros on the baking sheet for 1 hour.

Carefully transfer churros with a cookie spatula to the Air Fryer basket, leaving about 1/2-inch space between churros. Spray churros with oil spray. Depending on the size of your Air Fryer you have to fry them in batches.

Air fry at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

In a shallow bowl combine granulated sugar and cinnamon.

Immediately transfer baked churros to the bowl with the sugar mixture and toss to coat. Working in batches. Serve warm with Nutella or chocolate dipping sauce.

Air Fryer Churros are golden tasty pastry treats, where every bite has a tender inside with a crispy outside that’s tossed in cinnamon and sugar.

Easy Air Fryer Churros

(250 milliliters) water

salt

(113 grams) butter

(120 grams) all purpose flour

Sifted powdered sugar and cinnamon or cinnamon sugar

Mix the first 4 ingredients in a pan, bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

Add flour and continue to mix thoroughly. Remove from heat and continue to mix until smooth and the dough comes away from the side of the pan.

Add eggs one at a time, mix until smooth. Set aside to cool.

Preheat Air Fryer to 400F/200C.

Fill a cake decorator bag with dough and add a ½-inch star tip.

Create sticks that are 3-4 inches in length by pushing the dough out of the bag onto a parchment paper. You can then transfer straight to the air fryer if you’re ready for them. If the dough is difficult to handle, place in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up.

Spray air fryer basket or tray with coconut oil or cooking spray.

Add about 8-10 churros in air fryer basket or tray. Spritz with oil.

Cook on 400F/200C (french fry setting) for 5 minutes.

Once done and while still warm, roll in cinnamon sugar mixture, cinnamon or regular sugar.

In a small bowl, whisk together ½ cup white sugar and 1 Tablespoon of cinnamon in a medium-sized casserole dish. Set this aside. You&#39;ll use this for coating the churros later.

To make the batter: Add water, 2 Tablespoons sugar, salt, and butter into a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil. Turn off the heat then stir in the vanilla extract

Then stir in the flour. You will need to stir this for a minute or so, until it is smooth and thickened. It will start to pull away from the pan and almost look like play dough.

Transfer the thickened batter to a large bowl and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes.

While the batter is cooling, pour the oil into a large pot to use for deep frying. You want the oil to be about 2 inches deep.

I highly recommend starting your oil on medium heat and using a candy thermometer to check the temperature to make sure it heats to around 350 - 360 degrees fahrenheit. This is important because if the oil gets too hot, you will quickly fry the outside of the churro but the inside will not cook fully and you will end up with a burnt outside and gooey, undercooked middle.

Place a paper towel on a plate next to the pot for draining the churros later.

Once the churro batter has cooled some, use a hand mixer to beat the egg into the batter until well combined.

Place the churro dough into a piping bag with a star or flower tip. This batter is VERY thick. You must use a sturdy piping bag - see my notes below.

Pipe churros into 4-5 inch long ropes, directly into the hot oil, using scissors to cut the batter. Don&#39;t overfill the pot or they won&#39;t cook evenly - work in batches.

It should take about 5 minutes to fully cook. Turn them once during cooking to make sure both sides get browned evenly.

Immediately as you remove each churro from the oil, roll it quickly on the paper towel. Then place it into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, toss to coat, and place it on a cooling rack.

Continue with the rest of the churros.

Serve immediately with chocolate or caramel sauce.

In a saucepan, add ½ cup of milk, ½ cup of water and a pinch of salt. Heat over medium flame until it starts to boil.

Sift 1 cup of flour into a small bowl; then, add the flour to the saucepan with the milk and water. Cook the flour in the saucepan for one and a half minutes over medium heat.

Remove the saucepan from the heat, place the dough in a bowl and then add an egg white to the mixture. Keep stirring. You can knead the dough with your hands but be careful not to burn yourself.

Let the dough rest for 10 minutes.

Pour plenty of mild olive oil (&gt; 200 ml) in a 9 inch frying pan and put it over medium heat for 8/9 minutes until it reaches  356°F ( 180°C ).

Once the oil is hot, load the dough into a churro maker. Then, pipe lines about 4″ long.

Fry the churros for 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Total time in the pan: 6 minutes approx.

Remove the churros from the pan with a skimmer and place them on a plate with kitchen paper to absorb the excess oil.

In a small bowl, add 100 grams of sugar and coat the freshly made churros in. Et voilà… you have made delicious churros for breakfast or afternoon snack!
