This spicy honey garlic tofu is so good that it will turn even non-believers into tofu lovers!

Spicy Honey Garlic Tofu

block tofu (extra-firm and dried for at least 20 minutes)

cornstarch (add more if you need to)

garlic

soy sauce

tbsp honey

tbsp rice vinegar

tbsp coconut oil (for frying)

tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

tsp sesame oil (to top)

scallions (for garnish)

To prepare the tofu: wrap it in paper towel and place between two heavy-ish items (like plates) to get more moisture out of it. Leave it like this for at least 20-minutes.

While your tofu is getting prepped, mix the garlic, honey, sriracha, soy sauce, and the rice vinegar in a bowl and set it aside.

When your tofu is ready, cut it into approx. 1-inch cubes. Then coat each side with corn starch (this is what gives it that crispy, breaded look and taste). This gets kinda messy. Embrace it. Now, in a large pan with a heavy bottom (I used a skillet), add your oil and turn the heat to medium-high.

When the oil is hot, add the tofu cubes.BE CAREFUL - the oil is hot - look out for oil splatters.It will likely take at LEAST two minutes per side until the tofu is ready. It will start to get a beautiful crispy, light-brown color. Toss it gently so it doesn&#x27;t fall apart.

When all sides of the tofu are cooked, turn the heat off but keep the pan on the element (don&#x27;t add the sauce when the pan is still crazy hot or it will burn really fast - I made this mistake the first time!). Let the pan rest with the heat off for a minute before adding the sauce, then add the sauce mixture that you set aside to the tofu.

Make sure all of the pieces are coated in the sauce and let it all cook in the pan for about three more minutes. Even though the heat is off, your skillet will still be hot. Finally, remove the tofu from heat, and serve it over coconut rice, or on its own!

The sauce in this easy honey garlic tofu recipe simmers in minutes while the tofu bakes on a sheet pan in the oven. Serve it with roasted broccoli and brown rice.

Honey Garlic Tofu

Non-stick cooking spray

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a sheet pan with non-stick cooking spray.

Pat the tofu dry with a towel. Wrap it with a dry towel and place a cast iron pan or cutting board on top to remove more liquid. Let stand for 15 minutes. Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.

Arrange the tofu in a single layer on half of a sheet pan and bake for 10-12 minutes.

While the tofu is in the oven, make the sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the soy sauce, 1/4 cup water, honey, rice wine vinegar, ginger and garlic. Simmer the mixture for a couple minutes until it is fragrant. In a small bowl, stir together the cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water and whisk into the sauce. Continue simmering until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.

Toss the broccoli in vegetable oil, salt and pepper and place on the other side of the pan next to the tofu. Flip the tofu to the other side. Continue cooking until the tofu is lightly browned and the broccoli is tender and bright green, but still crisp, about 10 minutes.

Toss the tofu and broccoli in half the honey garlic sauce. Extra sauce can be served on the side or saved for another use.

Sprinkle with scallions and sesame seeds. Serve with brown rice.

Rinse the tofu block, drain it, and dice it into cubes. Mix 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and two of water in a bowl, and soak the tofu in the marinade for 15 minutes.

Heat half of the oil in a wok or skillet. Discard the excess marinade and add the marinated tofu cubes to the pan. Cook them over medium-high heat until they're nicely seared and golden on all sides.

In a clean pan, sizzle the remaining oil with minced garlic, finely chopped or grated ginger, and thinly sliced red chillies.

Then, tip in the soy sauce, honey, and the remaining water. Stir and bring the sauce to a boil, then simmer it for 2-3 minutes.

Add in the tofu and stir well to coat evenly with the honey sauce. Cook for 2 minutes until the sauce is reduced a glaze and tofu bites are golden brown.

Before serving, sprinkle the spicy honey-glazed tofu with roasted sesame seeds and chopped spring onions. Serve it right away with rice or noodles, a side salad, or greens.
