Honeydew Tropic Freeze

honeydew melon, about 1/2 medium melon

coconut

Put the melon, cream of coconut, rum, to taste, and about 2 cups of crushed ice in a blender. Puree until smooth. Pour into serving glasses and serve.

"Excellent frozen delight"  We froze the melons and added lots of Malibu and Bacardi Rums-everything else to the recipe. We used our Margaritaville machine. They were better than most bars, superb!

I've been looking for cream of coconut for MONTHS so I can try this drink! I looked by the evaporated milk, I looked in the ethnic isle (by coconut milk), and I looked by canned fruit. Finally, I was getting stuff for strawberry daiquiris, and there it was! By the drink mixers. Didn't even think to look there! Very refreshing drink! Definitely a keeper! 

I didn't add the rum, but did everything else.  It was so easy to make.  This drink was so good and sweet.  

Honeydew Smoothie

honeydew melon, cubed

vanilla low-fat yogurt

apple juice, from frozen concentrate

Honeydew melon slices,

In a blender, combine melon, yogurt, and apple juice concentrate. Blend until smooth. With blender running, add ice until frothy.

Pour into 2 (16-ounce) glasses and garnish with sliced melon.

Okay, I’m not gonna lie. Sandra Lee is NOT my favorite person... at all. However, my 10 year old daughter loves honeydew melon and needed a quick, easy, and healthy breakfast for those hectic school day mornings.  I found this and thought, “Ok, I’ll give it a go.”, and I am so glad I did! This smoothie has been a lifesaver! No more frozen breakfast sandwiches for my kids! It is really delicious, healthy, and filling... thank you!

This is one of those wonderful drinks that at first you think, "well, it's ok." and then you can't stop drinking it. And when you're done, you think maybe you'd better have another. I'd serve these to guests for a summer brunch or an afternoon treat. And my kids... they sneak honeydews in the cart at the store so I'll make them. Now if I can just teach them how to pick the ripe ones...

Wow! Such a treat! I agree - ripe melons are best. I substituted frozen lemonade for frozen apple juice and it was so sweet and tasty! Definitely worth the try!

This was really easy to make and tasted great!

but they aren't in season. I used cantaloupe and it was great. If yours was bland you probably used an unripe melon. Honeydew has tons of flavor when it's ripe....if you can find one :)

I was expecting something alot better because of the high rating. It was really bland. I guess that's why you hardly ever see honeydew in a smoothie.

We added some strawberries too. Too good!

You can make this with any kind of melon. Hint: make sure the melon you use is really ripe. Unripe melons don't have much flavor.

make sure you blend you melons enough and that they are ripe enough. Try this! I will be making it again.

Perfect for those who are watching their weight and have a taste for something a little sweet. Very refreshing. Excellent summertime drink. Loved this.

This is an awesome summer smoothie. I used cantaloupe since I couldn't find honeydews this time of year. It was very very good. I can't wait to try it with honeydew, since that's my favorite melon, so it will be even better! Adding a few rasberries was good too!

Couldn't taste the honeydew. Wasn't terrible but tasted like watered down yogort.
