Iced Americano (Better Than Starbucks)

(1 doubleshot) espresso

water (optional)

Make the espresso

Make the espresso using an espresso machine, manual espresso maker, French press, or Moka Pot. Go to How to Make Espresso for instructions.

Add the ice

Add the ice to glass. Pour the espresso over ice. Taste and add cold water, if desired (but the ice sufficiently dilutes the espresso so it&#8217;s not required).

How To Make An Iced Americano

espresso

oz glass full of ice

cold filtered water ((or equal to weight of your shot))

pull espresso shot

Pull a shot of espresso. If you’re like me, you already brew on a coffee scale, but if not, weigh out your finished espresso in grams.

pour over ice, add saline

While still hot, pour espresso into an 8 ounce glass filled with ice, and stir until chilled. If using saline, add 3 drops and stir to cut back on bitterness.

add water, stir, and serve

 Using a kitchen scale, add an equal amount of water to the weight of the espresso shot you used. Stir until the Americano is chilled, then serve.

Only if using an espresso machine

sweeten, add milk

Sweeten with your favorite sweetener and a splash of milk or half and half.

Optional Step

Great tip with sourcing coffee from local cafes, that’s definitely the way to go. The saline also makes a very big improvement too!!
