These simple lemon, ginger, honey, and cayenne immunity shots are part of a wonderful immune booster juice to start the day right during cold and flu season (or any time of the year!)

Ginger Lemon Immune Boosting Shots

450 gr ginger root (to yield about 350 ml juice)

lemons

tsp honey (or agave/maple)

cayenne pepper

Start by rinsing and scrubbing the ginger root. There's need to peel it, just cut it into small enough piece so they can pass through the juicer.

Then, begin by juicing the ginger. 

Once the ginger is juiced, check your yield amount and Juice the lemons accordingly. You can pass it through the juicer if you remove the skin and white rind. Alternatively, juice the lemon as you would usually and measure a 1:1 ratio with the ginger juice.

Mix the ginger and lemon juice together.

Add the cayenne pepper and the honey (or agave/maple) and stir well, to thoroughly combine.

Separate into shot-sized portions (60ml) and keep refrigerated for up to a week. The cayenne pepper will sink to the bottom  - so make sure to shake the shot container before drinking.

You can also freeze the juice into ice cubes and add to juices and smoothies when needed.

Lemon, Ginger and Cayenne Immunity Shots

These 6-ingredient ginger shots (with pineapple, orange, and cayenne), are potent with immune-boosting, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory benefits. They can be made in a blender or juicer!

Ginger Shot Recipe

ginger root (chopped)

pineapple (cubed)

orange juice

lime juice (or lemon juice)

coconut water ((see notes))

You can watch the short video for visual instructions.Wash and scrub the ginger root under running water before you chop it into smaller chunks.

Squeeze 2 oranges to get ½ cup of orange juice. Also, squeeze about 3 limes (or 2 lemons) for ¼ cup of juice.

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until the mixture is fairly smooth.

Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve (or nut milk bag) into a bowl or measuring cup.

Transfer the juice to several smaller (preferably sealable) glasses and store them in the refrigerator for up to a week.I consume one shot in the morning and recommend starting slowly.

I love this recipe! I’ve been making it for about a year. I didn’t have coconut water but I did have aloe juice so I used it in place of the coconut water. Turned out great.

First time trying this recipe and its a keeper. For future reference can you substitute the pineapple for a different fruit as season goes on it may not be as easier to find in supermarket.  thanks 😊

Looks like a lovely recipe, curious though, can I just use my juicer to juice all the ingredients or do I have to use a blender?

Thank you for another healthy and inspiring recipe Ela!  I used half and half ginger and turmeric, as I'm trying to control arthritis pain.  Do I need to add black pepper as well as cayenne, and is it supposed to taste hot and spicy, or did I overdo it do you think?  I did add a little maple syrup, but might try wizzing up one or two dates with the next batch, to make it compliant with Dr Greger's guidelines, do you think that would work okay?

Very easy to make , love the ability to adjust the amount of ingredients to suit your individual tastes.  I had to add a bit more orange juice as the ginger was really strong
