Place the beef roast at the bottom of the crockpot. Place all other ingredients on top of the roast. Cover the crock pot and set on high for 4-6 hours, or on low from 8-10 hours.

Once the beef is tender and falling apart, use two fork to shred the meat in the juices.

Serve warm on toasted rolls, with rice or pasta, or on it's own.

Rest

Let the meat rest at room temperature for 15 minutes (this is a good time to measure your other spices and seasonings). Season the beef all over with kosher salt.

Sear

Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high. Once it is hot, sear the meat on all sides until golden brown, moving it as little as possible so that it develops a nice crust (this will take about 10 minutes). Transfer to the slow cooker.

Pour

Turn the heat to medium. Carefully splash in some of the broth and with a wooden spoon, scrape up the brown bits on the bottom of the pan (this is FLAVOR). Pour the liquid and any bits into the slow cooker on top of the beef.

Stir

In a small bowl, stir together the seasoning ingredients: Italian seasoning, granulated sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and thyme. Sprinkle on top of the beef.

Add the pepperoncini peppers and juice. Add the giardiniera (do not add any giardiniera juice).

Cook

Cover the crockpot and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours, or until meat shreds easily with a fork. Shred the beef, then stir it together with the juices. Cover and cook on low for 30 additional minutes.

Toast

To serve, split the hoagie buns and toast on a baking sheet in the oven at 350 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes (if desired). Fill with the shredded Italian beef (get plenty of that yummy, messy juice!) and top with provolone, pepperoncini, and Giardiniera as desired. Enjoy!

Brown Chuck Roast Steak: Heat up Instant Pot using Sauté More function. Wait until it says HOT (~8 mins) -you really want the Instant Pot to be as hot as it can be for the maillard reaction.&nbsp;Pat dry the chuck roast steak and lightly season one side with salt + black pepper. Drizzle the inner pot with 1 tbsp olive oil. Then, place the seasoned side of the chuck roast steak in Instant Pot. Lightly season the other side with more salt + black pepper.*Pro Tip: brown each side for 10 minutes to develop some awesome deep flavors.*Note: If you prefer a "Dump-it-all-in" Recipe, you can skip the browning and saute steps.

Saute Onion and Herbs: Set browned chuck roast steak aside. If you want to serve the Italian Beef Sandwich with sauteed green bell pepper, saute then set them aside.&nbsp;Add in sliced onions, saute until softened (~3 - 4 mins). Add in 1 tsp (1g) dried oregano, 1 tsp (1.2g) dried basil. If you prefer slightly spicy Italian Beef, add 1 tsp red pepper flakes. Saute for another minute.

Deglaze Instant Pot: Pour 1 cup unsalted stock in Instant Pot, then deglaze by scrubbing all the flavorful brown bits off the bottom of the pot with a wooden spoon.

Pressure Cook Chuck Roast: Add in 1 tsp (3.5g) onion powder, 2 tsp (9g) garlic powder, 1 tbsp (15ml) soy sauce, 1 tbsp (15ml) fish sauce, and 1 tbsp (15ml) Worcestershire sauce. Give it a quick mix.&nbsp;Place browned chuck roast steak back in Instant Pot and partially submerge it into the liquid as best as you can. Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 45 minutes + 25 minutes Natural Release.

Simmer Gravy &amp; Shred Beef: Set aside chuck roast steak in a mixing bowl, then shred the meat with 2 forks. While you are shredding the meat, bring gravy back to a boil with the "Saute" function.&nbsp;*Pro Tip: Reducing the gravy will naturally thicken it. If you find the gravy to be too oily, you can use a Fat Separator to filter out the fat.

Adjust Seasoning &amp; Serve Instant Pot Italian Beef: Place the beef back in the yummy beefy gravy. Taste and adjust seasoning accordingly. Serve Italian Beef on Italian rolls.&nbsp;Optional: Garnish with giardiniera and sauteed green bell pepper. Enjoy~ :)

Turn 6 quart slow cooker to high heat. Add boiling water, beef bouillon and Worcestershire.

Combine remaining seasonings in a small bowl. Sprinkle over beef broth and whisk to combine. Add roast and flip to coat both sides. Cover and cook on high for 4 hours or low 8-10 hours. Shred beef by using two forks to pull it apart. Stir to coat all beef in the juices. Cook 1 additional hour covered. (Do not drain)

When ready to serve: Slice rolls in half, place on a baking sheet and broil in oven for 2-4 minutes until bread is lightly golden brown.

Scoop beef on toasted roll and top with 2 slices of provolone cheese. Place back on baking sheet and broil until cheese is melted. Top with red pepper slices and mild pepper rings.

Italian Braciole Recipe (Stuffed Beef with Sauce) is a cozy and comforting meal made of thinly sliced steak stuffed with Italian herbs, two kinds of cheese, prosciutto, and breadcrumbs. The beef roll is slow-cooked in red wine and a rich tomato sauce. It's a specialty of Southern Italy. This recipe will become an Italian favorite in your home!

Beef Braciole Recipe

(1 1/2-pound) flank steak

bread crumbs

garlic clove,

Pecorino Romano cheese

Italian parsley leaves

Prepare the sugo al pomodoro sauce and set aside.

In a medium bowl, stir together bread crumbs, garlic, cheese, parsley, and basil until combined. Add half the olive oil (2 tablespoons)—season the mixture with salt and pepper and set aside.

Lay the flank steak flat on a wooden board or clean work surface. Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Place one piece between two sheets of parchment paper. With a rolling pin or meat mallet, pound the meat to flatten it to about 1/4 inch thickness—  season both sides generously with salt and pepper.

Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the steak to cover the meat. Add slices of prosciutto over the pounded beef and breadcrumb mixture to cover evenly.

Starting at the short end, roll up the steak (like a jelly roll) to seal the filling. Using butcher&#8217;s twine, tie the steak roll to secure it (I usually secure it in 4 spots). 

Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil in a heavy large ovenproof skillet, or cast iron pan, over medium heat. Add the braciole to the pan and cook until browned on all sides, about 8 minutes.

Add the wine to the pan and scrape all the browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Bring it to a boil for about 1 minute. Stir in the prepared tomato sauce. Cover partially with foil or an oven-safe lid, and bake until the meat is almost tender. Baste the braciole with the sauce every 30 minutes.

After 1 hour, uncover and continue baking until the meat is tender, about 30 minutes longer. The total cooking time should be about 90 minutes total. You can braise the meat for up to 3 hours. If cooking longer, ensure the sauce doesn&#8217;t reduce too much, and add a little beef broth if needed. 

Let the braciole rest for 15 minutes. Remove the butcher&#8217;s twine from the braciole. Remove the braciole from the sauce. Cut the braciole crosswise and diagonally into 1/2-inch-thick slices using a large sharp knife. Transfer the slices to plates. Spoon the sauce over and serve. Enjoy with ciabatta bread to soak up the sauce.

Anything not pork, that would work as a good substitute?

This is the ABSOLUTE BEST braciole recipe ever!! I have made it several times and I would like to make it for a special dinner party that I am having in February. I want to make a white chicken lasagne as well but I am not sure these two dishes will complement each other. What do you think? I usually don't mix white and red sauce. Although part of me thinks it will be great!

Instant Pot Chicago-Style Italian Beef Sandwiches Recipe

Boneless beef chuck roast ((4 pounds))

Italian rolls (or French rolls, split)

giardiniera ((16 ounces), drained)

Cut roast in half; sprinkle generously with salt and pepper on all sides.

In a large skillet on the stove top, warm up the olive oil. Once hot, sear all sides of the roast in oil (about 1-2 minutes per side - it will start to turn dark brown). Transfer roast pieces to the Instant Pot.

In a food processor, combine the mushrooms, celery, onion, garlic, thyme, and oregano. Cover and process until finely chopped. Transfer chopped vegetables to Instant Pot on top of roast.

Mix together the beef broth and beef base; pour over top. Place the lid on the Instant Pot, lock it into place and turn the valve to the SEALING position.

Press the PRESSURE COOK or MANUAL button and set the timer for 100 minutes (20-25 minutes per pound of meat).

Allow the Instant pot to do a NATURAL RELEASE of the pressure. Then I normally let it sit on “keep warm” until I need it and let the meat get extra tender.

Remove meat and shred with two forks. Return meat to Instant Pot and let it soak in the liquid for a few minutes. Using a slotted spoon, serve beef on buns; top with giardiniera. If desired, scoop some of the liquid from the Instant Pot into a small bowl and serve along side the sandwiches for dipping.
