Grilled Blackened Tuna Steaks with Mango Salsa

This Mango Avocado Salsa is fresh, crunchy, sweet, with a little spice and a bit of tang. Serve with chips, on tacos, with grilled meat or fish or just enjoy it as it is.

Mango Avocado Salsa

mango

avocado

red bell pepper

red onion

cilantro (chopped finely)

lime

salt

Place all ingredients in a large bowl and toss to combine. Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes before serving.&nbsp;

BBQ Salmon Bowls with Mango Avocado Salsa

salmon

brown sugar

smoked paprika

onion powder

garlic powder

chili powder

kosher salt (more

olive oil

mangoes, diced

avocado, diced

jalapeño (optional, to taste)

honey

lime juice + a little lime zest

Rice

Mango salsa

Toss all ingredients in a bowl to combine. Taste, adjust, try not to eat the whole bowl.

Get the oven ready

Preheat the oven to 475 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil. Alternatively, you can set it to 500 degrees on the broil setting for medium rare with a yummy crispy top &#8211; the risk here is that you have to watch closely so it doesn&#8217;t burn the sugar. If taking this route, make sure one of the oven racks is close-ish to the top, about 6 inches or so.

Salmon

Mix the spices and the olive oil to make a paste. Place the salmon skin side down on the baking sheet. Rub the paste liberally over the top part of the salmon. Bake for 6-12 minutes depending on the thickness of your salmon and your desired doneness. See notes if you&#8217;re not sure.

Bowl it up

Pile up some rice, pull off some of salmon, and spoon that mango avocado salsa over the whole thing. Add a lime squeezer for good measure. IT&#8217;S SO GOOD.

Ok so, this is going to be amazing, except it totally just caught fire in my oven!! Big flames! I think the sugar caught fire? I guess when you said heat the oven to 500 I should have done that, but I used the broiler setting instead. Hey everybody, dont do that! 😮😮😮 somehow the fish still looks beautiful,  the mango chutney is amazing. I just hope my oven survives 😖

this was the BEST salmon I've ever made. I got nervous because I thought the sugar &amp; spice rub got too burnt under the broiler but nope! it was delicious!! the rice/salsa/salmon combo was amazing. perfect and easy!

Is there a way to make the BBQ Salmon Bowls with Mango Avacado Salsa, if I do not have or are unable to use an actual grill? I miss out on so many delicious recipes because of my living situation, being in a hi-rise apartment building and unable to REALLY GRILL. Any tips would be appreciated.

I was SO excited to try this recipe and everything POY I make is delicious but the rub burnt in my oven after 6 minutes and the salmon definitely wasn’t done so I had to scrape most of it off :( I did 500 at broiler setting like it specified,  but maybe it wasn’t supposed to be on broiler? There was also lots of oil in the tin foil after, I think I’d adjust that too. The fish didn’t look too fatty to start!

Made tonight for first time. Delicious and one of  my new favorites!! So light and flavorful, mango gives it plenty of sweetness without adding honey (IMO). Wonderful dish and thank you for sharing!!

Delicious!!! One of the best salmon recipes I’ve made. We loved them! I made a couple of adjustments (less brown sugar and added a little lime zest to the paste as well as lime juice- my paste was very dry.) Will definitely make these a staple in our house!
