Here are the secrets to the best Manhattan cocktail! Add style to your evening with this easy classic vermouth cocktail made with just three ingredients.

Manhattan Cocktail

(4 tablespoons) bourbon or rye whiskey (we prefer bourbon)

(2 tablespoons) sweet red vermouth

Angostura or orange bitters

Luxardo cherry or other cocktail cherry

Combine the whiskey, vermouth and bitters in a cocktail mixing glass (or any other type of glass). Fill the mixing glass with 1 handful ice and stir continuously for 30 seconds.

Strain into a coupe or cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry and serve.

In a large pitcher, combine the whiskey, vermouth, bitters, and water. Stir to combine, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Serve in coupe glasses with cocktail cherries alongside for garnish.

Also called the Portmanteau.  This rye whiskey and port wine cocktail is perfect for an after dinner treat.

Port Manhattan

rye whiskey (I use Bulleit)

ice (a small hand-full will do)

Place the ice in a large tumbler. Pour all ingredients over the ice and give it all a few brisk stirs to combine.Serve over ice in a rocks glass, or my preferred way: up, which means strain the cocktail into a glass and serve with no ice.Garnish with an orange peel or brandied cherry.

This sweet version of the Manhattan cocktail is much prefered by us and many others. We chose bourbon but you could always up to for a Rye to make this perfect after dinner drink.

60 ml Bourbon Whiskey

ml Sweet Vermouth

Boker Bitters

Fill your mixing glass with ice to the top and stir to bring the mixing vessel to a good temperature.

Discard any water that has been created in the mixing vessel and then add your whiskey, sweet vermouth and bitters.

Stir for up to 45 seconds to reach optimum dilution

Using your julep strainer to hold the ice in place. strain into a chilled glass

garnish with a maraschino cherry and serve!

Combine chocolatey, mocha flavor notes from Foro amaro with Michter’s rye and sit back for a smooth and velvety ride. The combination of Michter’s rye, smooth, yet complex, and Foro amaro are a magical match. Add a little bit of sassafras and sorghum and chocolate bitters and you’re done.

Combine rye, amaro and bitters in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until well chilled and diluted. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with expressed orange peel and a whole star anise. Try to sip slowly.

Bohemian Bitters (aromatic bitters)

Combine vermouth, bourbon and bitters in a mixing glass and fill with ice.

Express the oils from an orange peel over the cocktail and garnish with the peel. Add a cherry if you like.
