Homemade Maple Candied Pecans

Tbsp brown sugar

sea salt

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, set aside.

Toast pecans in a pan over medium low heat for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

In a small bowl, mix maple syrup, brown sugar, and salt together.

Pour syrup mixture into pan and stir to coat pecans.

Cook over medium low heat until all of the liquid starts to crystalize and is absorbed.

Remove from heat, pour onto prepared baking sheet, separate nuts so they do not stick together and let cool.

A candied pecans recipe made with three simple real food ingredients, done in about 15 minutes, maple sweetened and perfectly spiced. Use them for snacking, parties, salad toppings and gift-giving!

Candied Pecans Recipe - Maple Sweetened & Chili Spiced (or Not)

black pepper

chili powder, (optional (to make spicier, add 1/8 tsp. cayenne))

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment or silicone liner.

Toss all the ingredients in a large bowl, mixing well to coat all the nuts evenly.

Lay coated pecans in a single layer on prepared pan.

Bake 5 minutes, stir nuts well and bake for another 5-8 minutes until nuts are browned and caramelized (watch closely the last few minutes to avoid burning).

Remove from oven and let cool completely on pan.**

Break apart and store in an airtight container for up to a month.

I used Chipotle Chili Powder and then I tried the hot Mexican Chili Powder...and it was meh. Go with Chipotle- you won't regret it.

Great sounding recipe.  I am going to have to try it for some gift giving this year.  I usually make some with butter, brown sugar &amp; cayenne, chili powder &amp; cinnamon.
