It doesn’t get much better than this simple, all-time best grilled chicken marinade recipe for perfectly juicy and flavorful grilled chicken breast or chicken thighs every single time!

Best Grilled Chicken

chicken breasts (feel free to sub chicken thighs)

olive oil

balsamic vinegar

brown sugar (or honey)

soy sauce

garlic

Italian blend herbs (or Herbs de Provence)

red pepper flakes (optional)

Stir together oil, vinegar, sugar, soy sauce, garlic, dried herbs and red pepper flakes. 

Pour into a large ziploc bag along with the chicken, press the excess air out of the bag, seal, and chill for 30 minutes.&nbsp;

Use tongs to transfer the chicken to a preheated grill or grill pan on the stove. Discard marinade. Cook chicken for 6-10 minutes on each side (depending on thickness) over medium heat until cooked through ( juices should run clear when you cut into the thickest part of the chicken). Serve immediately.

Measure out all the ingredients.

Mince, press or crush the garlic, then combine it with the remaining ingredients in a saucepan.  Simmer gently over medium-low heat for about 10 minutes. You can refrigerate it for several weeks.

Add all ingredients except cornstarch and water to a medium sized saucepan over medium heat. Whisk to combine.  Bring mixture to a boil, whisking frequently. If you want to use this for a marinade ONLY, remove the pan from heat, allow mixture to cool to room temperature, then use as desired.

To thicken the whiskey marinade to use as a grilling sauce:Whisk cornstarch and cold water together in a small bowl, then add to the boiling marinade mixture. Whisk to combine and allow to boil for 2 to 3 minutes, or until thickened.

Remove from heat and use as desired. Enjoy!
