Easy Monkey Bread (with Bread Dough)

loaf frozen bread dough, (thawed in the refrigerator overnight)

(1 stick) salted butter, (melted)

brown sugar

cinnamon

Tablespoons chopped pecans, (optional topping)

Thaw a loaf of frozen bread dough (just follow the back of the package for instructions on how best to do it). Once thawed, turn out bread onto a lightly greased cutting board and pat gently into an 8 inch square. 

Using a large knife, cut it into 64 pieces. Roll them into balls, but don’t worry if they aren’t perfect or exactly the same size.

In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.

Pour the melted butter into a dish with a low rim (like a pie pan.) Dip the dough balls into the butter, coating well, and then roll into the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Place evenly in rows in a greased bundt pan. I like to spray the bundt pan with nonstick cooking spray with flour in it.

Cover the pan with a towel and place in a warm place to rise for 1-2 hours. It should rise to almost the rim of the pan.

Bake at 350F degrees for 20-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown. (Note that dark coated baking pans will cook faster.)

Cool in the pan on a cooling rack for 5 minutes (only) and then turn onto a serving platter. Serve warm with a sprinkle of chopped pecans (optional).

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Spray a bundt pan with non-stick cooking spray.

 In a large bowl, add the granulated sugar and cinnamon.  Stir to combine.

 Separate the biscuits.  Cut each biscuit into 4 equal pieces.

 Add the biscuit pieces to the bowl with the cinnamon sugar mixture.  Stir well to make sure each piece of biscuit is well coated.

In a medium bowl, add the melted butter, brown sugar, and chopped pecans.  Whisk until well combined.

Spoon half of the cinnamon sugar biscuit mixture into the bundt pan.

Pour half of the butter mixture evenly over the biscuits. Repeat with the remaining biscuits and butter mixture.

Bake for 35 minutes, until golden brown.

Cool in the bundt pan for 8-10 minutes*.

Invert the bundt pan onto a large serving plate.  Carefully remove the bundt pan.

(16.3-ounce) package refrigerated buttermilk biscuit dough

sugar ((200 grams))

unsalted butter ((226 grams))

light brown sugar ((165 grams))

Preheat oven to 350F.

Separate the biscuit dough rounds, cut each biscuit into quarters, and place the pieces in a large zip-top bag. Add the sugar and cinnamon, seal, and shake until the biscuit pieces are evenly coated (you can do this in batches if needed).

Lightly grease a 10-inch bundt pan and place the coated biscuit pieces in the pan.

In a small saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture starts to boil and the butter is completely melted. Pour the hot sugar mixture over the biscuit pieces in the pan.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until the top is deep golden brown. Place the pan on a wire rack and let cool for 10 minutes. After cooling, place a large serving plate on top of the pan and carefully flip the pan over to invert the bread onto the plate. Remove the pan and let the bread cool for a few more minutes before serving warm.
