This Nashville Hot Chicken is tender on the inside and crunchy on the outside with a slightly spicy sauce drizzled on top, served on bread.

Nashville Hot Chicken

4-5 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

all-purpose flour ((divided use))

tsp salt

tsp pepper

tbsp blackened seasoning

buttermilk or whole milk

eggs

tsp Frank's Red Hot sauce

peanut oil ((for frying))

peanut oil

cayenne pepper

dark brown sugar

tsp chili powder

garlic powder

paprika

white bread and sliced pickles (for serving)

Pat chicken dry with paper towels. Set aside.

Make the chicken coating. You'll need three wide, shallow bowls.&nbsp;In one shallow bowl, pour in one cup all-purpose flour and mix it with salt and pepper.

In a second shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, and hot sauce.

&nbsp;In the third shallow bowl, whisk together the other cup of all-purpose flour and blackened seasoning.

Start coating the chicken:&nbsp;Take one piece of patted-dry chicken and place into first bowl of flour (that is seasoned with salt and pepper.) Shake off excess

Then dip chicken into buttermilk mixture, letting excess drip back into bowl.&nbsp;

Finally, dredge chicken piece again into the final flour bowl (that is seasoned with the blackened seasoning.) Place prepared chicken on a baking sheet. Continue with the rest of the chicken breasts.

Heat up the oil:&nbsp;Using a heavy-bottomed pot or large cast iron skillet, pour in oil so it comes up about 3-4 inches inside the pot.

Heat oil over medium-high heat until a heat-safe thermometer registers 325°.

Fry the chicken:&nbsp;Working in batches, fry 2-3 pieces of chicken at a time, turning occasionally.

Fry until it is deep golden brown and crisp and an instant-read thermometer inserted into thickest part of pieces registers 160° for white meat and 165° for dark (about 15-18 minutes.)

Transfer cooked chicken to a clean wire rack set inside a baking sheet.

Prepare the Nashville Hot Sauce:&nbsp;Whisk together cayenne, brown sugar, chili powder, garlic powder, and paprika in a medium bowl; carefully whisk in 1 cup frying oil. Brush fried chicken with spicy oil.

Cook's Notes:&nbsp;I usually just use the oil that I fried the chicken in after it has cooled slightly.

Serve chicken on sliced white bread and pickle slices.

Mind-Blowing Nashville Hot Chicken Recipe

Brine the Chicken: Warm the pickle juice on the stovetop or in the microwave. Then stir in the sugar until dissolved. Pour the pickle juice brine into a large zip bag. Add the chicken pieces. Zip the bag closed. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, but longer is better. (If you can brine the chicken for 8 hours or overnight, that’s best!)

Once the chicken has brined, set out two shallow dishes. Pour the buttermilk and hot sauce in one shallow dish. Mix well. In the second dish, combine the flour, cornstarch, and creole seasoning. Mix well.

Drain the brine off the chicken. Set out a metal rack. One at a time, dunk the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, then the buttermilk, then back in the flour mixture. Place the breaded chicken pieces on the rack. (It’s good for the chicken breading to rest before frying, so don’t heat the oil until all the chicken has been well coated.)

Set a large saucepot on the stovetop and clip a cooking thermometer to the side of the pot. Pour enough fry oil into the pot to fill it about two-thirds full. Turn the heat on medium to medium-high.

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F. Set another rack on a baking sheet for the cooked fried chicken.

Once the oil temperature reaches 350 degrees F, carefully place four pieces of chicken in the fry oil. Use tongs to move the chicken so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot. Fry for 7-8 minutes, until golden brown. (The largest pieces should be 165 degrees F inside.)

Use the tongs to carefully pull the chicken pieces from the hot oil and place them on the clean rack. Place the fried chicken in the oven to keep warm and crisp.

Repeat with the remaining chicken pieces. Place the second batch of fried chicken in the oven. Turn off the heat.

For the Spicy Oil: Use a ladle to scoop ¾ cup of fry oil from the pot into a heat-proof mixing bowl. Add the cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, brown sugar, chili powder, garlic powder, and salt. Stir to mix.

When ready to serve the chicken, remove the rack from the oven and brush the spicy oil over all sides of the fried chicken pieces. It’s traditional to serve the chicken over 2 slices of white bread, topped with pickles.

Air Fryer Nashville hot chicken is made so easy in the Air Fryer without deep-frying! Brushed with Nashville&#039;s iconic homemade hot cayenne-based sauce, and served with pickles and thick slices of bread.

Air Fryer Nashville Hot Chicken

In a bowl, combine buttermilk with hot sauce and place the chicken in the marinade. Cover with plastic wrap, and place in the fridge for 1-24 hours. Alternatively, if you don&#039;t have time to marinate the chicken, then just dip in the buttermilk mixture followed by seasoned panko.

Preheat the Air Fryer to 390°F (200°C).

Season the panko with salt and pepper, bread the chicken and place in the Air Fryer.

Spray the chicken with oil, and Air Fry for 9-10 minutes if using chicken tenders, or 10-12 minutes if using chicken breasts that aren't very thick. Flip the chicken halfway through, and check the internal temperature of the chicken to know when it's ready. It should register at 165°F/73°C.

As the chicken is being cooked, prepare the Nashville hot sauce. In a saucepan, heat about half a cup of oil, then add brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, and chili powder. Give it a quick mix, and remove it from heat. Do not allow the oil to smoke. Alternatively, you can combine all of the ingredients in a bowl, then microwave until the oil is hot but not boiling.

Brush the Nashville sauce over the warm chicken using a pastry brush, and serve over slices of bread with bread and butter pickle chips.

Topped with crispy, tender, freshly fried chicken, these hot chicken pancakes are absolutely gonna knock your socks off!

Hot Chicken Pancakes

½ cups all purpose flour

baking powder

baking soda

¾ sea salt

milk

Butter

onion powder

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

sea salt

black pepper

(6 oz each) boneless skinless chicken breasts

red pepper flakes

maple syrup

sriracha sauce

Sea salt and black pepper (optional)

In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Make a well in the middle, crack egg and pour milk in the flour mixture. Mix well. It’s fine if there are some lumps.

Heat a non-stick skillet on medium heat with a bit butter. Use ¼ cup of batter to make 1 pancake. Cook until bubbles form, then flip and cook on the other side until nicely brown.

Pancakes

In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.

In a separate bowl, whisk buttermilk and egg together.

Cut chicken into small tenders and toss them, one piece at a time in the buttermilk mixture then in the  flour mixture. Coat chicken well.

Heat a large pan over medium heat with frying oil. Fry chicken on each side until cooked through and golden brown.

Serve with pancakes.

Crispy Hot Chicken

In a small bowl, mix red pepper flakes, maple syrup and sriracha sauce. Microwave on medium until warm. Serve on pancakes.

Slow Cooker Nashville Hot Chicken

chicken breasts

Tbsp brown sugar

butter, (melted)

Place chicken in 6-qt slow cooker.

Whisk together remaining ingredients. Pour over chicken.

Cover and cook on LOW 4 to 6 hours.

Remove cooked chicken from slow cooker and shred with two forks. Return to slow cooker, stir.

Serve on buns with pickles and ranch.

Nashville Hot Chicken Burritos

lbs Chicken breast,

12” flour tortillas,

Mexican quesadilla cheese

Buttermilk

Pickle juice

Hot sauce

All-Purpose flour

Corn starch

tbsp Cayenne

Garlic powder

tbsp Mexican chili powder

Brown sugar

tbsp Smoked paprika

tsp Red pepper flakes

Cooking oil

head Thinly chopped head of cabbage

½ Whole carrots (thinly sliced)

Jalapeño (diced and seeded)

tbsp Mayo

Dijon mustard

tbsp Red wine vinegar

Salt

Pepper

Mayo

tbsp Sriracha

tsp Honey

Start off by cutting your chicken into tenders. Now, add your buttermilk, pickle juice and hot sauce into a large mixing bowl and whisk. Add the chicken into the buttermilk brine for 12 hours or 24 hours.

The next day make your slaw first thing. In a medium sized bowl add the sliced cabbage, sliced carrots, Jalapeño, mayo, dijon mustard, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper. Hand mix until it&#39;s combined nicely and placed in the fridge for a few hours. This lets the flavors marry and it will taste amazing!

In a medium sized mixing bowl, add your all purpose flour, corn starch, cayenne, Mexican chili powder and garlic powder. Whisk until it’s nicely combined.

Get your oil (peanut oil) heated to 350 degrees and make your sriracha mayo.

Get the bowl with the buttermilk brine and place it at your breading station. We are going to take the chicken out of the buttermilk, making sure there isn’t any extra buttermilk dripping and place it in the flour. Cover and then place back in the buttermilk and then flour again. This is double breading (provide an extra crispy crunch). Repeat this process for all of the tenders. Make sure to have a baking sheet next to you with wax paper. This is what you will place your chicken on when it’s breaded.

Add all of your ingredients for the Nashville Hot Chicken into a metal bowl, this is all of the seasoning, do not put any oil in at this point.

Add 3-4 tenders into your frying skillet (be sure to not add too much, overcrowd the pan) and fry for 4 1/2 mins or 5 mins. Internal temp of 165, be sure to check with a meat probe.

When you’re finished frying the chicken, place it on a wire rack and then add 1-2 cups of the cooking oil into the Nashville Hot Chicken seasoning blend. Whisk together and then coat your chicken with this mixture!

Warm your flour tortilla with a griddle top.

Assemble your Nashville Hot Chicken Burrito in this order, Sriracha Mayo, quesadilla cheese, creamy slaw, Nashville Hot Chicken, sriracha mayo and then another layer of cheese. Roll that bad boy up and toast on the griddle for 1-2 mins per side. I like using a grill press during this process.

Nashville Hot Chicken Burritos | Grill Nation

Hot, crisp, and super delicious, Nashville hot chicken is the king of fried chicken. It's so succulent and fiery, you'll want to lick the plate clean.

Nashville Hot Chicken (Easy Recipe)

Whisk the buttermilk, pickle brine, hot sauce, and egg in a large mixing bowl. Add the chicken, and toss to coat.

Cover the chicken with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours.

Just before frying, mix the flour and salt in a shallow flat dish. Set aside.

Remove the chicken pieces from the marinade and blot gently with paper towels. Don’t discard the marinade.

Toss the chicken pieces in the flour mixture until evenly coated.

Return the chicken to the marinade and thoroughly coat all sides. Let the excess drip back into the bowl.

Coat the chicken in the flour mixture again, then place them on a rack to dry slightly - about 15 minutes.

While the chicken dries, make the sauce. Add the butter, lard, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper to a large pot over medium-high heat. Stir until melted and smooth, then remove from the heat or leave on low, stirring occasionally.

Pour the vegetable oil into a cast iron skillet until 1/3 of the way full. Heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175°C).

Gently place the chicken pieces into the hot oil, skin side down. Fry in batches to maintain an oil temperature of at least 325 degrees Fahrenheit (160°).

Fry the chicken pieces until the internal temperature reads 160 degrees Fahrenheit (70°) - about 8 to 10 minutes per side. Check the internal temperature using an instant-read thermometer.

Move the crispy chicken to a rack to drain. After about 5 minutes, brush both sides of the chicken with sauce before serving. Enjoy!
