non spicy tteokbokki

Gungjung Tteokbokki is one of Korean royal court cuisine originated from the royal palace in the Joseon dynasty. It is known as king's snack. Unlike to typical Tteokbokki (Korean spicy rice cakes), Gungjung Tteokbokki is not spicy but rather savoury.

Royal Rice Cake (Gungjung Tteokbbokki)

Korean rice cakes

g rib eye fillet ((3.5 ounces), thinly sliced)

g shiitake mushrooms ((3.5 ounces), stems removed and thinly sliced)

onion

red bell pepper

yellow bell pepper

green bell pepper

green

sesame seeds (, optional)

soy sauce

tsp rice wine ((mirin))

tsp minced garlic

tsp black pepper

tsp sesame oil

Tbsp soy sauce

brown sugar

Combine the meat with the marinade. Set aside while other ingredients are being prepared.

In a heated pan (on medium-high heat), add some cooking oil and the onion. Stir lightly until they are wilted. Add the meat and cook briefly (about 30 seconds) until the outer layer is cooked.

Add the mushrooms, rice cakes, bell peppers and the seasoning sauce. Stir them well until all are cooked (about 2 to 3 mins).

Garnish with the green onion and roasted sesame seeds. Serve.

Curry Tteokbokki Korean Kare- made with sausage, potato, carrot, mushroom, onion, rice cakes, and curry powder/blocks. Easy &amp; Tasty!

Curry Tteokbokki Korean Kare

2-4 sausages (2 cups, cut up) (I used 4 sausages)

½ onion, thinly sliced

mushrooms (1 cup, sliced)

garlic cloves,

potato, peeled & cubed

medium carrots, peeled & cubed

water

S&B curry blocks

rice cakes (200 grams/30 pieces)

chopped green onions/chives

Cut 4 sausages into bite-sized pieces using scissors. Fry off in a little oil until browned. Add ½ thinly sliced onion and sauté until soft. Now add 6 sliced mushrooms and stir. A few minutes later, add 4 minced garlic cloves. Cook for 3-5 minutes. 

Add chopped potatoes &amp; carrots. Pour in 2 cups water (or until the carrots and potatoes are submerged). Place a lid on and allow it to cook for 15-20 minutes until softened.

Pour 1 cup of water into the pot. Break up two S&amp;B Golden Curry blocks into smaller pieces and transfer them to the pot. Now add 1.5 cups rice cakes. Stir well until curry blocks have dissolved and rice cakes are submerged. Cook for the rice cakes for 5 minutes (or according to package instructions).

Once the curry sauce has thickened, garnish with chopped green onions or chives. Serve the pan at the table.
