Turkish Sumac Onions Recipe

Peel and slice the onions thinly. Put them in a bowl.

Sprinkle sumac, salt and red pepper flakes over onions. Gently massage them with your hand.

Add in parsley, lemon juice, pomegranate molasses and olive oil. Stir to combine.

Serve as a condiment alongside chicken or meat dishes, as a garnish in sandwiches or wraps.

tsp kosher salt

Add all ingredients to a bowl and toss to combine.

Taste for seasoning and adjust as needed (more salt or more sumac, for example).

This North Indian Onion Salad is a raw onion recipe that can either be made with red, white, or sweet onions depending on your tastes.

Slice 1 large onion into thin rings or rounds.

In a bowl take the onion rings.

Add red chili powder, chaat masala (optional) and chopped mint leaves.&nbsp;

Also add salt as required.

Then add lemon juice or vinegar.

Mix together everything very well.

Check the seasoning and add more salt, red chili powder or lemon juice if required.&nbsp;

Serve the onion salad immediately.

Indian Onion Salad is crunchy, delicious, tangy and easy to make. Serve it with any Indian meal on the side or with biryani, tandoori appetizers, grilled snacks.

Onion Salad Recipe (Laccha Pyaaz)

onions ((or 3 small))

green chilli (optional)

coriander leaves ((or 8 to 10 mint leaves))

lemon ((about 3 tablespoons lemon juice))

red chilli powder

chaat masala

black pepper ((crushed, optional))

Rinse onions well under running water and peel them. Slice the whole onion to thin round slices. (see pictures in the post)

Slit the green chili and deseed. Chop finely. Also chop the coriander leaves.

Separate the layers to get onion rings. Add them to a bowl of very cold water and rest for 10 mins. Later drain the water and shake off the onion rings gently to get rid of excess moisture.

Add them to a serving bowl. Squeeze lemon juice and add all the spices - chaat masala, red chilli powder, black pepper and salt.

Also add the deseeded and chopped green chilies and coriander leaves.  Toss everything well.

Taste test and add more spice, salt or lemon juice if required.

Serve onion salad with grilled snacks, tandoori appetizers, biryani or with pulao.
