(16 ounces) cream cheese, (softened to room temperature)

(293 grams) confectioners sugar

(about 1/4 cup) orange, (zested (optional) and juiced)

orange extract ((start with 2 teaspoons and taste test))

In a large bowl, combine the shortbread cookie crumbs with the melted butter.  Pour into a prepared 8 in pie dish and firmly press to the edges to form a pie crust.

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until it is light and fluffy.

Add in the powdered sugar, orange juice, orange extract, and salt and beat until everything is combined. (If you are adding the zest, add it here.)

Gently fold in the whipped topping.

Pour creamsicle filling into prepared pie crust. Smooth out with a small offset spatula.

Pie Filling

Smooth out a layer of whipped topping (about 2 cups, can use more or less depending on preference) over the creamsicle filling.

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, up to 3 days if covered. Top with an orange wedge. (optional)

Orange Cream Pie is a quick and easy creamsicle copycat dessert filled with a fluffy jello mixture inside a graham cracker crust. Cool and light, it&#39;s perfectly refreshing for spring and summer parties.

can mandarin oranges (drained and halved (reserve 8 whole slices for garnish))

Add the ¼ cup cold water to a small bowl. Sprinkle the unflavored gelatin packet over the cold water, and stir to combine. Allow the gelatin to bloom for 1-2 minutes.

Add the ½ cup boiling water to a medium-sized mixing bowl.

Add the bloomed gelatin to the boiling water.

Stir in the orange extract.

Sprinkle the orange gelatin powder over the boiling water and stir until the gelatin completely dissolves.

Stir in the ¼ cup crushed ice until the ice is completely dissolved.

Fold in the whipped topping and halved mandarin oranges.

Pour the pie filling into the premade graham cracker crust. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 4 hours. Slice into 8 slices. Just before you are ready to serve, garnish with a swirl of the canned whipped cream. Place 1 of the whole segments of mandarin oranges on top of the swirl.

This orange creamsicle pie is a summer favorite. It is light and flavorful and everyone who tries it falls in love.

In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth

Mix in the 3/4 C powder sugar

In a medium bowl, combine the jello with the boiling water and whisk until completely dissolved. Set aside

Zest the orange and set aside

Using a standing mixer, whip on medium speed the heavy whipping cream, 1/2 C powder sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form

Add 1/2 of the whipped cream into the cooled jello and whisk until combined

Fold the remaining whipped cream in with the cream cheese mixture

Spread 1/2 of the cream cheese mixture onto the crust

Spread about 2 C of the orange mixture onto the cream cheese mixture

Slowly and carefully spread the remaining of the cream cheese mixture

Place into the fridge to set over night

Using a standing mixture, whip together the 1 C heavy whipping cream, 1/2 C powder sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract until stiff peaks form

Scoop into the piping bag and pipe small dollops around the edge of the pie

Cut out a slice and enjoy!
