Single senior. I do this in a slow cooker with can of tuna and add  penne pasta as well and maybe add an onion or couple of sticks of celery chopped up for some vegetable and fibre content. Works for me. Sometimes a slice of lime for a bit of extra tang.

I loved the recipe! I just put a a dash of oil and carried on. Also added some salami. Result was delicious! Still good the next day.

It was easy to make. I also added anchovy paste and it wasn’t over powering. I’m looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow! Will make this again!

I am a hater of anchovies, but I gritted my teeth and put in about 2 inches of anchovy paste.  I could smell it as it cooked for a minute, but don't taste fishiness in the finished product at all!  Will make again and again! Oh, and I doubled the garlic as I always do.  ;)  I think the full 1/4 cup of olive oil is essential.

I only put half of the olive oil. Other than that, it turned out really well!

Recipe video above. Spaghetti alla Puttanesca is a traditional Italian pasta from Naples with a sauce based on pantry essentials. This plants it firmly in the (excellent) emergency-meals collection!You don&#39;t need much salt in Puttanesca sauce because the olives, capers and anchovies provide the seasoning. Don&#39;t skip the anchovies - sauteeing it cooks out the fishy flavour and it just dissolves in the sauce, leaving behind savoury flavour you can&#39;t get from just plain salt. You&#39;d have to have a finely attuned palette to even know it&#39;s in the sauce!

Spaghetti alla Puttanesca

spaghetti (,

tbsp extra virgin olive oil

galic (, finely minced (knife, not garlic press))

anchovy

olives

capers (, drained (Note 3))

tsp chilli flakes ((red pepper flakes))

/ 14 tomato

water

oregano

tsp kosher / cooking salt ((or 2 pinches table salt))

tsp black pepper

tsp sugar (, if needed (depends on tomato quality, Note 4))

Prepare: Bring a large pot of water to the boil, ready for the pasta. Warm serving bowls (I microwave 1 minute).

Cook garlic: Heat olive oil in a medium skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic and cook for 15 seconds until it starts turning golden.

Cook anchovies: Add anchovies, capers, olives and chilli flakes. Cook for 1 minute.

Tomato: Add tomato, then add water into the can. Swirl around to rinse then pour into the skillet.

Simmer: Add oregano, salt and pepper. Stir, bring to simmer, then turn down to low and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes or until the tomato has broken down and created a sauce. Turn off stove when ready if not timed with cooked pasta.

Cook pasta: Meanwhile, add 2 teaspoons salt into the pot of water. Then add pasta and cook per packet directions.

Reserve pasta water (Note 5): Just before draining, scoop out a mugful of pasta cooking water and set aside. Then drain pasta in a colander.

Toss pasta: Immediately add pasta into sauce. Add 1/4 cup of pasta cooking water (Note 5) then use 2 wooden spoons to toss the pasta, still on a low stove, for 1 minute or until the sauce is no longer in the skillet but rather clinging to the pasta strands (but still slick and slippery). If the pasta gets too dry, add more pasta cooking water and toss.

Serve: Immediately transfer into warmed bowls. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with basil. Serve immediately!

Ribeye Steak Pasta Puttanesca

lb ribeye steak

Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain in a colander and rinse it under cold water to stop it from cooking any further. Reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water.

Season the steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides.

Heat the skillet on high heat then add the butter and olive oil. Once the butter has melted and the pan is really hot, you should see wisps of smoke, add the steak and cook the first side for 5 minutes, flip over and cook for another 5 minutes. See recipe notes on cooking time.

Transfer the steak to a cutting board or plate and cover with aluminum foil. Do not slice it right away as all the juices will come out and you'll end up with a dry steak. Wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before slicing into it.&nbsp;

Drain the skillet and add another tbsp of butter to it. Once the butter has melted add the garlic and saute for about 30 seconds until the garlic becomes really aromatic.

Add the tomatoes, olives and capers to the skillet then season with salt and pepper. Saute for about 2 minutes until the tomatoes soften and the skins begin to wrinkle a bit.&nbsp;

Add the pasta, reserved pasta water, Parmesan cheese and parsley to the skillet then toss everything together.&nbsp;

Remove the foil from the steak and slice it across the grain using a sharp knife that will cut cleanly through the meat. Slicing across the grain will yield the most tender slices.&nbsp;

Place the steak slices over the pasta and serve warm.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente. Drain and reserve 1 cup of cooking water. 

While the pasta cooks, make the sauce. Heat a splash of olive oil in a large pan set over medium-high heat.

Add the sliced garlic and cook for a minute until fragrant.

Add the anchovies and with the back of a wooden spoon, smash into the oil. Add the tomatoes and chilli flakes and bring to a simmer.

Add the pitted olives and capers then simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce has reduced slightly. Taste and season with salt and pepper as necessary. 

Add the pasta to the pan along with a little of the cooking water. Toss to coat the pasta in the sauce.

Serve with grated Parmesan and fresh basil.
