This Creamy Penne Pasta Recipe is a super easy and delicious 20-minute recipe made with penne pasta smothered in a garlic butter cream sauce. Perfect served as a comforting main course or simple side dish.

Creamy Penne Pasta Recipe

(½ lb) penne pasta

butter

all-purpose flour

garlic (minced)

vegetable broth ((or chicken broth))

lemon juice

heavy cream

parmesan cheese (grated)

salt and pepper (to taste)

parsley (to garnish)

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Cook the penne until it is al dente (about 2-3 minutes less than the cooking time listed on package directions).

As the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large 12-inch skillet set over medium heat. Sprinkle the melted butter with the flour and use a whisk to combine (it will form a thick paste). Cook the paste (roux) for about 1 minute, stirring often.

Add the minced garlic followed immediately by the vegetable or chicken broth (you may also use your favorite dry white wine) and lemon juice. Whisk continuously as it comes to a gentle simmer. Allow it to simmer/bubble for about 30 seconds.

Still whisking, slowly stir in the cream until fully combined with the flour mixture. Bring to a gentle simmer then reduce heat to medium-low. Cook over medium-low heat for about 2 minutes, or until it has thickened slightly.

Stir in the grated parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Remove from heat.

Reserve at least 1 cup of hot pasta water before draining the pasta. Add the drained pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. Add some of the reserved pasta water to the skillet, as needed, if the sauce becomes too thick (the starch from the pasta will help thicken the sauce).

Season with additional salt and pepper, to taste, and serve garnished with additional grated parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, if desired.

This quick, easy pasta dish takes as long as it takes to cook the pasta itself. It is a savory combination of sweet green peas with crisp onions and bacon.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the pasta. Halfway thru cooking the pasta,  add the frozen peas to the water. Refer to package cooking instructions minus 1 minute so the penne pasta will be at dente.

Meanwhile, in a large skillet, add the olive oil over medium-high, and add the finely diced onions and the bacon. Cook until the bacon and onions are crisp but not burned. 

Drain the pasta and peas and add them to the onion bacon mixture. Lower the heat to medium and add the heavy cream.

Stir well, add more cream if needed and serve immediately.

Great recipe and easy to use other ingredients, I have used ham or Italian sausage removed from casings and fried instead of bacon..I think you could add canned tuna towards the end....I use 1/2 &amp;1/2...it is rich enough when you add the the cheese...I have used different pasta as well...fettucini...or spaghetti broken in 1/2.  Sometimes I add a few red pepper flakes..for spice...This is an easy recipe...and so delicious . Do try thus!

i have been making a variation of this for years.  Instead of bacon I brown i pound of breakfast sausage, and instead of cream, i use 1  1/4 cup water and 1 chicken boullion cube and top it with Parmesan cheese.  I am excited to try your version.

Dump-and-Bake Chicken Penne Pasta Recipe

(10.5 ounce) can condensed cheddar soup (NOT diluted) (I used Campbell’s Healthy Request)

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together condensed soup, milk, chicken broth, thyme, salt and pepper. Stir in mushrooms, onion, raw chicken, and uncooked pasta.

Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 35 minutes.

Remove foil and give everything a stir in the dish. Stir in sour cream, and sprinkle cheese over top. Return to the oven and bake, uncovered, for 5-10 more minutes, or until pasta is tender and chicken is cooked through.

Let the dish stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.

This recipe was absolutely delicious and so easy to make! My husband and grandson loved it and the best part, for me anyway, there were no leftovers and I doubled the recipe! Definitely will be my go to meal from now on!!! Thank you for sharing this recipe!
