Easy pepperoni pizza rolls are crispy on the bottom, tender and chewy inside, packed with pepperoni and cheese, and baked until bubbly. A total crowd pleaser!

Pepperoni Pizza Rolls

all purpose flour

grams salt

200 grams water

instant yeast

sugar

olive oil

pizza sauce, homemade

mozzarella cheese, shredded

pepperoni slices (about 24 pieces)

cornmeal (optional)

olive oil (optional,

Parmesan cheese, grated

fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)

Whisk together flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. In a small bowl, combine water, yeast, sugar and olive oil. Whisk to dissolve and pour it into flour mixture.

Stir well with a silicone spatula to combine until no dry flour is visible in the bowl. Make sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl with the spatula. Let the dough rest for 10-15 minutes to develop gluten naturally.

Knead with your hands until the dough is smooth, about 7-10 minutes.

Allow the dough to rest for 1 hour, until doubled in size.

Make the Pizza Dough:

Transfer pizza dough onto a lightly oiled surface and gently flatten into a 10x14-inch rectangle using a rolling pin. Spread pizza sauce on top. Then, sprinkle mozzarella evenly and add pepperoni slices on top (or any desired toppings).

Roll up the dough tightly lengthwise into a log and pinch the end edges to seal.

Cut the rolled dough into 12 even pieces using a knife or bench scraper, about 1-inch wide each.

Place cornmeal on a shallow plate and dip the bottom of each roll into the cornmeal. Cornmeal is optional but recommended. It keeps the rolls from sticking to the baking tray and helps create an extra crispy bottom. 

Shape the Pizza Rolls:

Arrange the rolls flat, with cornmeal side down on a large half sheet baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush a little bit of oil over the rolls for crispier crusts.

Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. Let the pizza rolls cool for 5-10 minutes.

Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and parsley on top and serve warm with pizza sauce or marinara sauce for dipping

Make-Ahead Pepperoni Pizza Sliders are a super easy and fun way to serve pizza. I’m not sure which I fell in love with first, the extra cheesy fillings, or the crispy Italian topping on the bread! Either way, these are a winner with kids and adults! They are perfect for parties too!

Make Ahead Pepperoni Pizza Sliders

Dinner

Pizza Sauce (more or less to taste)

Pepperoni

mozzarella cheese (can use grated too)

butter

garlic (minced)

Italian seasoning

Parmesan cheese

sea salt

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cut rolls in half. Set bottom halves in a greased baking pan.

Spread pizza, or marinara sauce on the rolls in the pan.

Sprinkle a layer of grated cheese or slices of cheese over marinara.

Layer pepperoni slices over cheese.

Add another layer of cheese.

Set the top parts of the rolls back on sliders.

TO MAKE SLIDERS

Melt butter. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese, and a little salt. Stir to combine.

Brush over the tops of the sliders.

You can either refrigerate at this point or bake.

TO MAKE TOPPING

If you are baking immediately, bake for about 10-15 minutes. You want the insides to be nice and gooey and the tops to be golden brown. If the rolls get too brown before the insides are baked, cover with aluminum foil and continue baking until insides are melted.

If you are baking later, cover sliders with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for about 10 more minutes. If cheese still isn’t melted and the tops are golden brown, recover with aluminum foil and bake a little longer.

BAKING INSTRUCTIONS

You'll have fun both making and eating these Homemade Pizza Rolls! Made with my tested pizza dough recipe, this is a perfect party snack. Use your favorite pizza toppings such as pepperoni, cheese, and pizza sauce. The recipe can be halved to make 12 rolls.

Prepare pizza dough through step 3. When the dough is ready, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough in half. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each half into a large rectangle, about 10&#215;12 inches.

To prevent the filling from making your pizza rolls soggy, brush the tops lightly with 1 teaspoon olive oil each. Using your fingers, push dents into the surface of the dough rectangles to prevent bubbling. See photo above for visual. Spread 1/3 cup pizza sauce on top of each dough rectangle. Sprinkle each lightly with Italian seasoning and garlic powder.

Sprinkle 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella evenly over sauce, then top with pepperoni slices. Carefully roll dough rectangles into tight logs. Place logs onto 1 prepared baking sheet, seam side down and place baking sheet in the refrigerator to chill, uncovered, for at least 20 minutes. Chilling prevents the rolls from falling apart as you slice.

During that time, preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Line two large baking sheets with silicone baking mats or parchment paper.

Remove logs from the refrigerator and cut each into 12 1-inch slices. Pour cornmeal into a plate or bowl. Dip the bottom of each roll into cornmeal and place 12 on each baking sheet, cornmeal side down. The cornmeal is optional, but gives the bottom of the rolls an extra delicious crisp. Sprinkle the tops of the rolls with extra cheese, if desired.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the sides are lightly browned. Cool for 5 minutes, then serve with fresh basil on top (if desired) and extra pizza sauce for dipping. Pizza rolls should be enjoyed immediately, though they can be covered tightly and stored for a few days in the refrigerator. Reheat to your liking.

I just made this with some leftover pizza dough I had.  As another commenter said, they weren't  very pretty after slicing into rolls, but they baked up beautifully and were delicious! My two beagles each had a bite and give it two paws up! Your recipes never disappoint, Sally!

I made these last night, and they were delicious! I used your homemade pizza dough recipe, which was perfect. Since I made the dough, I found they took longer than the 2 hours 10 minutes listed- probably closer to 2 hours 45 minutes. Well worth the time and I will for sure make them again!

I made the homemade dough. Added roasted peppers and crumbled sausage to the pepperoni. Will use coarse cornmeal next time for more crunch.  Delicious and loved by all.

These pepperoni pizza rolls are the perfect game day snack. Pizza dough is brushed with seasoned butter, wrapped around pepperoni and mozzarella cheese, and baked to golden brown. Delicious!

Pepperoni Rolls

pizza dough

tbsp unsalted butter, melted

garlic powder

pepperoni

tbsp grated parmesan cheese

Marinara sauce,

Roll the pizza dough out on a piece of parchment paper to about a 10&#215;15 inch rectangle.

Add the Italian seasoning and garlic powder to the melted butter and stir to combine. Brush 1/2 of the mixture evenly on top of the pizza dough. Reserve the rest.

Place the pepperoni in an even layer on top of the dough, overlapping as needed. Sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese.

Starting with the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log with the seam side down. Transfer the log and the parchment paper to a baking sheet.

Put the egg in a small bowl and whisk, then brush it over the top and sides of the log.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, then brush with the remaining butter and seasonings (you may need to reheat it to melt it again). Bake for another 5-10 minutes, until golden brown and hot throughout.

Remove from the oven, sprinkle on grated parmesan and let cool for 10 minutes. Slice it into 1&#8243; thick slices and serve with warm marinara sauce.

So easy and delish!! I used a little less pepperoni (5oz package) than called for, still.. really, really good recipe!!

Made these for Christmas appetizers and it was a hit with both children and adults!  Making it again tonight!  So easy and delish!
