These easy tacos are made with crispy battered fish and served with a bright tomato salsa.

Fish tacos with tomato salsa

fish

(1/2 cup) self-raising flour

milliliters (1/2 cup) soda water

Vegetable oil, to shallow-fry

tomato,

garlic clove, crushed

shallots, trimmed, thinly sliced

lime juice

flour tortillas, warmed

avocado, mashed

kidney beans, rinsed, drained

(3/4 cup) sour cream

coriander

This gourmet fish dish will tantalise your taste buds. Enjoy it with a side serving of spinach.

gourmet single garlic clove, crushed

tbsp plain flour

Vegetable oil (For frying)

Begin by making sure your perch is clean, cut and ready to be used. I purchase ours already cleaned, but if you catch it yourself make sure to clean it up. 

Using a medium to large size skillet, pour in enough oil for frying (approximately 1/2 inch), and turn on medium heat. 

While the oil is heating up, pour bread crumbs into a shallow bowl, pour the flour into another shallow bowl, and mix together the egg and water in a third shallow bowl. 

Take a piece of perch, rub in flour, then give it an egg wash and then cover it in breadcrumbs. 

Repeat for each piece of perch.

Once your oil is ready to go, begin to fry your perch. You don&#x27;t want to overcrowd the skillet. Place 4 or 5 pieces of perch in the skillet, fry on the first side for approx 3-4 minutes then flip and cook for 3-4 minutes. 

Once the perch is done, place on a paper towel first to absorb all the excess oil. Then serve with fries and tartar sauce, or in our households case ketchup!

I made this recipe for my husbands enjoyment, since I am allergic to this and many other sea foods.

I even made hush puppies and Cole Slaw to go with it, and served Stouffer's Mac & Cheese with it. He loved this rare treat, which made me happy.

This recipe is crispy like fried, but is baked in the oven instead. It is quite simple and easy to make, especially if you use the Japanese Bread Crumbs called Panko. The fish stays moist and flakey, and my husband says it taste great. Give it a try the next time you are in the mood for fish, and want to save a few extra calories by baking it.
