How to Cook Frozen Breaded Shrimp in an Air Fryer

Air fry: Open the package and add your desired amount of frozen breaded shrimp to the air fryer basket (try to skip all the crumbs if you can). Set the air fryer to 375F. Cook time will vary depending on size and quantity of frozen breaded shrimp:

For about one serving of frozen popcorn shrimp (less than one layer in the basket), air fry for 7-10 minutes or until golden brown and sizzling.

For a whole bag of frozen popcorn shrimp (about 1 pound, pictured), air fry for 12-14 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until shrimps are golden brown and sizzling.

For jumbo/butterfly shrimps, arrange 4-14 jumbo shrimps in a single layer in the basket and air fry for 8-10 minutes until shrimps are golden brown and sizzling.

Make some sauce (optional): Mix all the sauce ingredients together and serve with the crispy air fryer breaded shrimp!

Serve: Serve on tacos, as an app with dipping sauces, or as a main with slaw and Spanish rice. Best eaten right after being made, so only make as much as you need and keep the rest frozen.

Air Fryer Fried Shrimp

all purpose flour

tsp black pepper (divided)

tsp kosher salt (divided)

tsp paprika (divided)

panko breadcrumbs

eggs (beaten)

lb. peeled and deveined raw shrimp ((I normally use 21/25))

canola oil cooking spray (or any nonstick spray)

store-bought remoulade sauce

Get out 3 shallow bowls.  To the first one, add flour, 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp paprika.  Stir with a fork until combined.

In the second bowl, add 2 eggs and whisk.  In the third bowl, add the panko and the remaining 1 tsp black pepper, 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp paprika.  Stir with a fork to combine.

Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel, then coat the shrimp, one at a time, in the flour mixture, then in the eggs, then in the panko mixture.  Set aside on a plate and repeat with remaining shrimp.

Preheat air fryer to 390°F.  Add breaded shrimp in a single layer to the bottom of the air fryer basket.  Lightly spray with a canola oil cooking spray, then cook for 5 minutes.

Shake the basket, lightly spray with oil again, and cook another 5 minutes, or until shrimp is golden brown.

Serve hot, with any dipping sauces you like.

Mango Habanero Popcorn Shrimp

pack frozen Popcorn Shrimp

vegetable or canola oil

habanero peppers ((seeds and stems discarded), finely chopped)

mangoes

garlic

apple cider vinegar

onion

brown sugar

ginger

optional: additional mangoes, chopped cilantro, lime wedges,

First prepare the sauce (can be made ahead of time). Add oil, habanero peppers, mangoes, garlic, apple cider vinegar, and onions to a large sauce pan and stir over medium-high heat until onions are translucent.

Stir in vinegar, ginger, brown sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes, then reduce to medium and simmer for 10 minutes. Transfer sauce to a blender or food processor and blend until very smooth.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a large baking sheet. Arrange shrimp in a single layer on baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until hot throughout and crisp on the outside.

Toss shrimp in the mango habanero sauce. If desired, serve with additional diced mango, chopped cilantro, and lime wedges for drizzling on top.
