Filled with Honey Nut Cheerios, honey roasted peanuts, pretzels, and chocolate candies, these bars are the perfect combination of sweet and salty. With no oven required and minimal ingredients, you can have these bars prepped and ready to be devoured in no time!

No-Bake Sweet and Salty Cereal Bars

Honey Nut Cheerios

honey peanuts

Pretzel M&Ms

pretzel sticks, roughly chopped

milk chocolate chips

brown sugar

corn syrup

unsalted butter

Bacon-wrapped chicken with kumara

Chicken breasts, skinless (Main)

rashers Streaky bacon

Garlic, skin on

Kumara,

thyme

Tbsp Mustard

Cider

Chicken stock

Tbsp Creme fraiche

Wrap 2 pieces of bacon around each chicken breast and season with salt and pepper.

Crush the garlic lightly with a knife. In a small casserole dish, place the kumara, garlic and thyme. Combine the mustard with the cider and chicken stock and pour into the dish. Place the chicken on top of the ingredients, season and bake for 25 minutes or until cooked through.

To serve, dollop the creme fraiche straight into the dish and enjoy.

Yoghurt marinated chicken kebabs

Yoghurt

Tbsp Tomato paste

Crushed garlic

Tbsp Fresh ginger, grated

Cumin

Coriander

¼ tsp Turmeric

Tbsp Apricot chutney

Into a small bowl combine the yoghurt, tomato paste, garlic, ginger, cumin, coriander and turmeric. Season with salt and pepper. Pour over the chicken, stirring well. Thread the chicken on bamboo skewers.

Preheat a frying pan to a medium heat. Cook the kebabs in batches until cooked through.

Combine yoghurt and apricot chutney to make a sauce.

Serve with hot rice, apricot yoghurt sauce and a side salad.

Easy coleslaw

¼ Red cabbages, Small head, cored and thinly sliced (Main)

¼ Green cabbage, Small head, cored and thinly sliced (Main)

½ Red onions, thinly sliced 1 carrot, peeled and grated

¼ cup Mayonnaise, preferably homemade (Main)

Tbsp Orange vinegar

Cayenne pepper

Chives,

Flat leaf (Italian) parsley, chopped

& pepper

Combine the cabbages (cored and thinly sliced), onion (thinly sliced), and carrot in a large bowl.

Mix together the mayonnaise with the vinegar. Add the cayenne pepper and herbs. Add to cabbage and toss well to combine.

Season with salt and pepper. Let it sit for 15 minutes.

Red chilli, finely chopped

⅕ kgs Tomatoes, chopped; tomatoes

Coriander leaves, chopped, to garnish

Place beans in a large pot, cover with cold water and leave to soak overnight. Drain and cover with fresh water (do not add salt). Bring to a boil and cook uncovered until tender (about 1-1½ hours, depending on age and dryness of beans).

While beans are cooking, remove stems from dried smoked chillies and discard. Cover chillies with boiling water and soak 30 minutes until tender.

Meanwhile, toast cumin and coriander seeds in a dry pan over medium-high heat, shaking occasionally, until fragrant and starting to pop (about 1 minute). Crush with a mortar and pestle.

Heat oil in a large pan and cook onions and garlic over a low heat until softened but not browned (about 10 minutes). Add crushed seeds, oregano, fresh chilli, tomatoes, sugar, salt and pepper and bring to a boil.

Lift the smoked chillies out of their soaking liquid, reserving the liquid. Chop finely and add to the tomato sauce with the soaking liquid and the drained cooked beans. Bring to a boil and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally to prevent catching, until thick (about 45 minutes). Alternatively, bake for about 1½ hours in an oven preheated to 180C.

To serve, adjust seasonings to taste then spoon into a deep serving dish and top with coriander.
