Sage Sausage Stuffing

onion

celery (chopped)

sage (fresh, chopped)

Preheat oven to 275 F degrees. Spread bread cubes evenly over a baking sheet. Bake about 45 minutes or until bread is completely dried.

Increase oven temperature to 350 F degrees. Spray a baking dish with cooking spray.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add sausage and break with a wooden spoon or potato masher, into fine pieces. Cook until sausage is no longer pink.

Add onion, celery, garlic, sage and craisins; cook for about 10 minutes, until vegetables have softened. Remove from heat.

In a bowl whisk eggs, parsley, garlic and broth. Season egg mixture with salt and pepper. Add the sausage mixture to the eggs and gently fold in the bread cubes until evenly mixed.&nbsp;

Transfer stuffing to prepared baking dish and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking until golden brown and the top is crispy, for another 15 minutes.

Remove from oven and let cool. Garnish with parsley and serve.

A super easy family friendly stuffing recipe filled with tender pork sausage and fresh parsley, rosemary, sage and thyme.  It is sure to be a hit at your Thanksgiving table.

Sausage Stuffing with Fresh Herbs

pork sausage

unsalted butter

celery

garlic

parsley

rosemary

sage

thyme

bread cubes

salt

black pepper

chicken stock (see notes)

In a large skillet over medium heat brown the sausage. When the sausage is almost browned add the butter, onion and celery; cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. Add garlic, parsley, rosemary, sage and thyme. Cook for 30 seconds stirring constantly.

Add eggs to a large bowl; beat them lightly. Add dried bread cubes, cooked sausage/vegetable mixture, salt, pepper and chicken broth.  Toss to coat and spoon into lightly greased casserole dish.  Bake for 30 minutes.

So much flavor in this stuffing -- perfect for Thanksgiving!
