Sazon Seasoning - Latin Spice Blend

tbsp coriander

tbsp cumin

tbsp achiote powder ((See Note 1))

tbsp oregano ((See Note 2))

cilantro

garlic powder

tsp salt

onion powder

tsp black pepper

In a spice grinder or food processor add the ground coriander, cumin, achiote, oregano, cilantro, garlic and onion powders, kosher salt and pepper and pulse until a fine grind. Store in an airtight container.

In a small bowl mix together the coriander, cumin, annatto seeds, garlic powder, oregano and salt.

Homemade Sazon Seasoning | Puerto Rican Sazon No MSG

Simple recipe to make sazon seasoning at home. Without msg and artificial ingredients.

Sazon Seasoning Recipe

Tablespoon Achiote powder ((aka annatto), *see Notes)

Salt

Tablespoon Garlic Powder

Tablespoon Cumin ground

Coriander Seeds ground

½ Teaspoon Turmeric Ground ((optional))

If you use whole spices (for more quality), dry fry them first in a pan to release flavors and to get them crispy. Leave to cool and grind to a fine blend.

To make a quick sazon seasoning, use spice powders. Mix in a bowl to a well combined seasoning blend.

Store in a glass jar away from direct sunlight, humidity and heat.

5 Minute DIY Sazon Seasoning Spice Blend

tsp ground annatto seeds

tsp coriander

tsp cumin

Start by grinding any whole spices you have. I recommend using ground annatto but if you only have annatto seeds and need to grind them up, using a coffee grinder is the best method I've found. 

Combine all ingredients in an airtight container, seal and shake until evenly combined. Store in your spice cabinet for up to 6 months (depending on the freshness of your spices).

I had no idea how easy this was to make, never buying it again!
